Joseph A. Goar and Family of Fannin Co., TX
I am looking for any information on Joseph A. Goar. Born at Fannin County, Texas near Telephone or Riverby, to Miles Gore/Goar and his second wife Martha (Riffle) Goar.
Joseph had two brothers, William "Will" and James "Jim" Goar and a sister, Betty (Goar) Lell. There were half siblings from Miles first marriage to Elizabeth (Hart) Gore. ******Note the name is spelled Gore for the first marriage and Goar for the second marriage. Children from the first marriage were, Mary Gore, John Gore and Jonathan C. Gore.
Joseph married Laura Lankford. Children were John Wesley Goar, Etta Faye (Goar) Waller Harris, and Estes Goar. There may have been a daughter named Mary.
Joseph is my Great-grandfather and I don't know when he was born, when he died or where he is buried, and the date of marriage to Laura. Laura is buried at Honey Grove but I don't find any records of Joseph being buried there.
After Laura's death in 1903 the children were living with different relatives. No mention of Joseph was made after that. My Grandfather, John Wesley Goar, lived with his Grandmother, Martha (Riffle) Goar and an uncle named James (Jim) Goar. There were also cousins in the household with the surnames of Whittington and Key. Just how they were related is a mystery to the family.
Any information about Joseph would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Joseph A. Goar and Family of Fannin Co., TX
Joyce, I noticed your grandfathers middle name Clemmie. My ggg-grandfather Clement Goar went by Clemmy or Clemmie.(Born 1796 died 1890) Miles Goar was Clemmie's son and may be in Billy Goars line. He also had a son William. They seem to use the same names over and over. Maybe there is a connection.

Re: Joseph A. Goar and Family of Fannin Co., TX
Sheran, my gx2 grandfather was also Clement Goar, but my Clement was born in Kentucky in abt 1829. He immigrated to Illinois and later to Texas with his father John and his stepmother Malinda. Clement married Susan Renfroe of Illinois and raised his family of 10, William, Emily, George C., John F. , Alice L. , Carrie L., Virgil, Edna, Robert and Susan Blanche (my grandmother) in Lancaster (Dallas), TX. It looks like my gx3 grandfather John and your Clement could possibly be brothers, at least cousins. Please let me know if your Goars have a connection to Kentucky. Thanks

Re: Joseph A. Goar and Family of Fannin Co., TX
Dianne, Clement and John could be brothers. Isaac Goar, Cements father was born in 1760 in VA died in Graystone County KY in 1841. He had six children with his first wife Sarah Traynum; Frances, Nancy, Polly, Joseph, Clement and Sally. He married Rebecca Goodman in 1802 and they had the following children; Matilda, Mary, John (born 1805 in KY), Malinda, George, Elizabeth, Melvina, Catherine, Rachel. Does this match with the information you have?

Re: Joseph A. Goar and Family of Fannin Co., TX
Sheran, I am so happy to find you. It does match, I have been trying for a long while to trace the Goar's prior to John.
In the 1850 census of Dallas CO, TX it lists my John
284 292 John Goar 45 M farmer 500 Ky Malinda 30 F Ill Clemment 22 M farmer Ky George 13 M Ill John 11 M Ill Singleton F 3 M Tex Atlas A 6/12M Tex This would have made my John born in about 1805 in Kentucky matching yours. He moved to Illinois from KY and married Malinda Greene and then immigrated to Dallas CO, TX in about 1845. Do you know anything about John? I am supposing that Malinda was his second wife as his son Clement was only 8 years younger than she was, and he was also born in Kentucky. I would appreciate any other information that you have. I only have one Aunt left in that branch of our family and for some reason her parents never told her anything of her heritage, she is now 93 and it really seems to give her a great deal of pleasure every time that I call her and "fill her in" on "her people".
Thanks

Re: Joseph A. Goar and Family of Fannin Co., TX
Wrote you yesterday, but don't know whether you received it.I am descended from William Gore [Goar, Goare] of Charlotte Co., VA. His daughter Sarah [Sally] 1777-1847]married John Bartlett [1766-1835]. All lived in Franklin Co., KY from at least 1796. William Gore had a sister who married Bernard Clements [Clemons] in Charlotte March 22, 1785. They were neighbors of William Goare in Franklin Co., KY. In the Franklin Co.General Cross Index to Deeds there areseveral references to deeds between John Bartlett and Joseph Gore [1831-32] and William Gore and Allen Clements [1818]. Allan was one of the sons of Bernard Clements and Sarah Gore#2. How do Isaac Gore and Joseph Gore relate to William Gore [my great great great grandfather] and Sarah Gore Bartlett [my great great grandmother?

Re: Joseph A. Goar and Family of Fannin Co., TX
Thank you for all the new information. I did write but it must have been lost. I am descended from Isaac Gore probably brother to your William Goare. I have their mother and father as William Goare and Catherine Tankersley, children- William, John, Henry, Jesse and Isaac....Isaac was born 1760 in Charolett Co. VA. I only have a death date for William Goare, their father- 1777. Joseph Goar is the son of my Isaac and brother of my ggg grandfather Clement Isaac Goar. The bounced message I recieved from you confirmes Joseph was buried in Franklin County KY. I loved hearing about the Clements, now I know where my Clement got his name! Thanks! Apparently we share a ggggg Grandfather.
