Hi Shawn,
I have one Alexander Goakey in my database. He is the son of Jeston A. and Mary Eliza (?) Goakey. I have the following siblings for Alexander: Augustus, Inlias, Josephine (b 1841, d 8 Sep 1892 in Rockford, IL), Thomas, and Joseph. I don't know the order of births for the siblings. I am a descendant of Josephine.
Regards,
Don

I am serching for information on Augustus Goakey/Gokey b. ca. 1838, possibly in Clinton Co., NY. Is there any possibility that he is the sibling of Alexander Goakey that you listed.
|
Hi Judith, It's possible that the Augustus Goakey born c 1838 in Clinton Co. NY you are asking about is the same person I have as being a son of Jeston A. Goakey. All the information I have on this Goakey family is listed on the Gauthier family forum at www.genforum.genealogy.com/gauthier. Search for Goakey on this forum. In addition, Josephine Goakey lived in Gloversville, Fulton Cty., NY before moving to Harrison, IL. I don't have any dates for for these residences. I have a couple photos of Josephine, which I can scan, if it will help. Please let me know if we have a connection with these Goakeys. Regards, Don Timmerman

Hi Dorothy,
Augustus and Lucy (Root) Goakey are a collateral line of mine. The only information I have for Lucy is as follows:
Birth: 1848, Ohio Death: Rice, Stevens County, Washington
I don't have any information about her ancestors. I do have a little information about her descendants; about 100 people. I will be happy to send you the information I have. In what format would you like it? I use "The Master Genealogist" software, so can send you a file of that type or a GEDCOM file. Let me know what you want.
Regards,
Don

Augustus Goakey is my great great grandfather. He fought in the Civil War for the North in an Illinois Unit. You can locate his name and the unit info in the Illinois Civil War stuff online. He has a brother named Joseph who fought as well. He married Annetta Root (maybe called Lucy). She was born in (near) Lake Erie (Date unknown), but died in Colville, WA. They had 10 children. One named Lynn Gilbert Goakey, my greatgrandfather, who was born in Rice WA in 1887.

Hi Dawn, I'm related to this line of Goakey's too. My great great grandfather was Augustus' brother Julius. He's the one that ended up going to Missouri and staying there. We purchased property over by Colville where Jospeh and his wife are buried. If you can tell me where Augustus and his wife are buried, I can take pictures of their gravestones for you if you like. I think I found his wife in the I.O.O.F cemetary, but he wasn't buried with her. You can reply here or by private email if you prefer.

Hi everyone. I'm related to Augustus' wife Annette Root Goakey. My records show that Augustus may be buried in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Stevens WA and Annette in Old Cemetery, Rice WA. If anyone has any information on Annette and her Root family, I would definitely be interested! I am willing to email what I have on Augustus and family if you send me your email addresses.

I'd love to have more information on this family. I'd like to find some relatives of his brother Joseph too, I've located both the gravesites of him and his wife and will gladly photograph them next time we are at our property as well as Augustus and his wife's stones if anyone would like them. My email is drgnmyst@hotmail.com.
