Annette Root Goakey was my great granfather's sister. Lucy Root was another sister who married a floyd Lawson. My great grandfather was Edwin Horatio Root, born 22 Dec 1852 in Ohio, to Gorton John Root and Lovina Mc Call. Both Lovina and Gorton are buried in Cottage Grove Oregon. He died in 1905 and she died 1918. She was living with her daughter Lucy Lawson and as a matter of fact both her and her daughter died only avery short time apart. Lucy died 20 Dec 1918 and Lucy died Jan 10 1919. Gorton and Lovina had five children,Clayton and Bradford as well as the previous ones already named.
I have only nine names of nine children for Augustus and Annette Goakey and they are the following. Elmer G b.1868, Cora A b1870, Flora b.12 Feb1872, Ernest b. 24 Nov 1873, Erroll 22 Aug 1879-1959, Everett G b.12 Aug 1881-2 Jan 1943, Laura b.3 Dec 1883, Evelyn b.31 Dec 1887, Vernon b.20 Feb 1892. I saw somewhere that Augustus died 1911 and Annette died 1913.
If you can add anything more to this I certainly would be happy.
I thought that my first computer had died and I had entered a lot of information in it and felt terrible and having a daughter in Lacy WA who is a computer whiz I took the old to her to see if she could somehow try to save at least my genealogy and in the meantime got a new one. Well as luck was on my side she didn't get to it as soon as she thought she would and when she turned it on it worked just fine. So mow I must get it up and running and add all the new stuff I've found nd add it to what is already there.
I hope we can be of help to one another. Kathryn G Fuchser, Bellingham WA. My email is kgfuchser@myway.com

Hi Shawn,
My name is Norm Goakey. Alexander Goakey was my great grand-father. He had a son named Evert Lee Goakey amongst other children. Evert had 4 children that lived to adulthood. One of them was my dad Lewis. I have 5 siblings. If you get this please e-mail me @ eriktherus@charter.net. or you may call me @608-617-6886. That also goes for anyone else in the family who is interested. I can give some of the details but would greatly appreciate any other info that you could add. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.

Don,
I don't know if you recall me or not but I believe I spoke to you on the phone 5 years ago about our common ancestry. My name is Norm Goakey and I live in Wis. I am sorry I have taken so long in replying but have been preoccupied with a lot of things. I am now much more settled. I am curious if you have found out anything new on the family tree. If you have I would be most interested. Please e-mail me at eriktherus@charter.net or call me at 608-617-6886. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.
