My grandfather was Price Goad from Blythville, AR. He was born 08/02/1902. I do not know anything else about the Goad family history. Can someone help me out?

You need to check the 1910 census for Blytheville's county to find Price's parents. Once you know his father, I may be able to trace back.-- Ken Haas

I think that his father's name might have been Robert Lee Goad. I am not sure yet. Does that help?

Joe, Price Goad born 1903 in Yalobusha Co., MS. father was Robert Lee "Bob" Goad. His mother's name was Anna Johnson from MS. Robert, Price's father was born in 1873. Anna, Price's mother in 1873. Did Price marry Daisy? Robert Lee Goad was my grandfather James H. Goad's brother. My mother, Sarah kept in touch with Mamie, Price's sister for years prior to her death. Let me hear from you.

Irma : Are you sure Robert Lee Goad and James H. Goad were brothers and not first cousins ?? I have a Robert Lee Goad born 1873 He had a cousin James H. born 1870. I have listed a brother of Robert named James M> Maybe one of us has the middle initial wrong. This James was only two months old in 1880. Ronert Lee also had brothers Alberst and Thomas. OOPS - I take it back. This Robert did have a brother James H. (maybe Hugh) born 1871.The younger Jmes M. was a nephew of Robert and James. The parents of Robert Lee and James H. were Alexander and Sarah Goad, he born in Tenn., she in Ala. I have written a book on the Goads and it discusses Alexander, his brothers and sisters and their ancestors back before 1700.Let me know if it would be of interest. It's not expensive. --- Ken Haas

Ken, Thanks for responding. My Grandfather, James "Jim" Henry Goad was born March 14, 1871 in Yalobusha Co., MS. He had brothers: Thomas Jefferson "Jeff" Goad born 1859 the oldest child of Alexander and Sarah Frances Burden, Goad, next my grandfather (listed above), Robert "Bob" Lee Goad born 1873, Albert "Abe" Sidney Goad born 1875, and William "Bill" Alexander Goad born 1881. They had a cousin listed James H. Goad born 1870, a son of Thomas Dixon "Dick" Goad. Ken, there is a William M. Goad born 1845 in TN. that is listed in Yalobusha Co., MS.(I don't have my copy of the census in front of me) but feel he is also a brother to Alexander and Dick Goad (also Henry as you listed) and This one I think married a Musick as you have written that two Musick sisters married Goad brothers.
I knew Grandfather James Henry Goad. I was born in 1941 and he died in 1952.
I have one of your books and Thank You for taking the time to print it. Very informative.

Price Goad married a lady named Carrie V. Boatwright. She passed away sometime in her 50's. Price then married a woman named Ida Belle ? (last name unkown). If you have any more info please get back to me.

Irma : I do not believce Alexander and Dixon had a brother William. They had two sisters (Mary Elizabeth and Tabitha) and a brother Henry who moved to Missouri. He was the only other brother unless old Abraham had a second family. Do you have my book printed in 1984-85 or the revised edition of 1995 ?? I added quite a bit on this family in the 1995 reprint. I originally thought Alexander and Dixon married Musick sisters but am told I was wrong about Alexander. I am glad to found the book inormative. Tell me more about William and I will see if I can idntify him. -- Ken Haas

Irma : As you know, Alexabderr was a Confederate soldier (brother Henry was in the Union army). You can tell the Rebel roots of Alex by he names of his children. Robert Lee is obvious. Albert S. was, no doubt, for Albert Sidney (or Sydney) Johnston who died at Shiloh. Thomas J. for Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson who died at Chancellorsville. He stuck to history with Thomas Jefferson. -- Ken
