Correction to my earlier message. Marion Gniazdowski is my paternal grandfather's (Stanley Gniazdowski Sr.) brother. Making Marion my great-uncle, and Frances, my great-aunt. I would greatly appreciate anyone who knows anything regarding the Gniazdowski family.

I'm looking for any information on Peter Gniazdoski who died at Sifton March 7 1933 at the age of 83. His wife's name was Antonina. His daughter married a Slonowski and another daughter married a Peter Slonowski. He also had 2 sons, James and Leon. If you know the names of the daughters it would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunatly, I don't know any of the people that are in question. Sorry. Keep up the search!

Hi -we think we may have some of the info you are looking for. My husband's grandfather on his mother's side was Peter Slonowski who was married to Petronela Gniazdowski we believe to be one of Peter's daughters. Peter and Petronella had two daughters, Paulina and Antonette. John Kalichuk (Kaliczak)(my husband's father) married Paulina on June 23rd, 1918 at Zoria, Manitoba and farmed near Sifton. Paulina (my husband's mother) was born in 1900 and passed away in 1954. Antonette, the younger sister, married Mike Dolinsky and lived in New York and later in Kelowna, B.C. They had one daughter who passed away as a baby. There was a James Gniazdowski who operated a farm implement dealership in Sifton, MB - he may have been the son of Peter Gniazdowski. We do not known about Leon.
We would like to know which side of the family you are related to. If you have additional information for us, we would appreciate receiving it.

I read your post on a Mike and Antoinette Dolinsky who resided in Kelowna, B.C. I believe they were my neighbours between 1956 and 1970. From what I recall, they didn't have too much family, but I still remember a few of their names. Please contact me if you would like further information or pictures.

Further to my previous posting, Mr. Dolinsky passed away here in Kelowna in 1986 and Mrs. Dolinsky passed away in Winnipeg, but she is buried here in Kelowna with Mr. Dolinsky and "Grandma." I cannot recall whose mother this was.

Hello - nice to hear from you. Our names are Wally (Walter) and Frances (Fran) Kalichuk. Antoinette and Mike Dolinsky are/were my husband's Aunt and Uncle and Grandma was Antoinette's grandmother. Antoinette and my husband's mother Pauline were sisters which also makes her my husband's grandmother. Yes they are all buried in Kelowna; we were at Auntie Dolinsky's funeral. Auntie always spoke so fondly of her neighbors and was so proud of her garden. We travelled several times to Kelowna to see them and our children really enjoyed tasting all of Aunties fruit in her garden. We actually honeymooned to Kelowna in 1963. If you have pictures we would love to receive some as we don't have any of them (just one of Auntie when she was in Winnipeg staying with Wally's sister Rose). Nice to be in touch; hope to hear from you again. Small world! :)

Thank you for the reply. I was only seven years old back in 1963, but we lived on other side of the big field. I was the little Chinese boy that Auntie always called Johnny. The smell of her baking always seem to make it across that field into our house. I was told that one time I didn't want to go to Vancouver and I instead wanted to stay with Uncle Mike.
I don't seem to remember you or your family. I only remembered John Cyphert (USAF) and someone named Ollie?
We lived beside the Dolinsky's until we both sold out in the early 70's. My dad passed away in 2001 and my mother, Esther is living with me now on Dilworth Mountain, that big mountain opposite our house.
The Dolinsky's blue spruce is still standing all these years and it is a constant reminder to me of the old days with them.
I'll try to retrieve some pictures from my brother and get them onto you.

Thank you for your quick response. We look forward to hearing from you again. Your vivid memory of them confirms how special they really were. Thanks "Johnny". :)
