Surnames: Gnap
My grandmother on my mothers side was Marya Gnap who came to this country in Sept 7, 1901. Her place of residence was Lisko Austria at that time and now southeastern Poland. She married a Peter Paul Gresavic (Gresiewicz) around 1901 in Madera PA and they moved to Osceola Mills around 1915 and Paul was a coal miner who died in 1918 from the influenza. She remarried a Paul Filon in 1920.
I never met or ever saw a picture of my grandmother who passed away in 1959 in a mental hospital. I was always told as a child she was dead.
Does anyone have any connection with this Gnap who had a brother named Joseph who came to the US and I believe left Pa to where I do not know.

There is a line of Gnapp family members that immigrated to the US around the turn of the 20th century.

The second "p" was added when they registered here. There was Stephan and a brother named Joseph that was a miner in PA.

Stephan located to Chicago. There he married and had several children including Stephan, John, etc...

I would believe there is a connection.
