Yes, this is mine gg-grandfather. I have this saved to my family tree Gnapp which is public.

Can I ask what you mean by requesting his intent & petition?

I never paid much attention to the other names on the document. Were they typically related to the one seeking citizenship?

It seems like I should expand my search from Hungary to other areas.

Hi tosha

A short history: it was up 1918 http://brainworker.ch/Oesterreich/Austria-hungary.png where 12 different languages were spoken. After the fall of A-H empire, several new countries were formed and one was Czechoslovakia [was this ever mentioned on your ancestor's document] which in 1993 separated into Czech Republic and Slovak Republic [Was Slovak or Slovakish ever mentioned]
I'm not an Ancestry subscriber so I doubt that I can view your family tree.

By any chance someone in the family has the ancestor's naturalization certificate? Not much information but at least would tell you where is the Intent and petition. The certificate is the final result of being a naturalized US citizen.

Thank you Tosha for coming back and providing the arrival manifest. Unfortunately, those early arrival manifest most of the time never provide a precise place of birth. I would suggest to go to the church that the first US born children were baptized, locate an US naturalization intent & petition. Keep the family stories on the back burner as they cloud our mind and hinder the research. Keep an open mind. Read up a little about the Austria-Hungary history to give you a slight edge in understanding where your ancestors were coming from.
As to your ancestors being German:
