Gnadt on it and my dad Fredrick Elmer said it was from my greatgrand father. Also, I live in the Netherlands, and was told that Gnadt is from the southern region of germany (Munich) is this true?

Kevin,

I'm looking for info. on a Ferdinand Gnadt. In the Detroit City Directory in 1889 he was living at 190 Hale Street with a Henrietta Plotke. In 1890 he was living at 190 Hale with a John Rinz and in 1891 at 190 Hale with Philippina Rinz. I know John & Philippina were husband & wife, and we think we've located a death record for John in 1891 which would explain why he wasn't listed in 1891. There is also a Mary Gnadt buried at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery that we think may be related too.
Do any of these people fit into your Gnadt family from Detroit, Michigan ???

My great grandfather, Albert Charles Gnadt was born in 1867
Cisslien, Pomerania which is the northern part of what is now Germany. Cisslien no longer exists but I have had contact with Goetz Gnadt who lives in Berlin (johnclint007@aol.com).
I live in Wilmington, NC and was born in Manitowoc, WI.
Feel free to E-Mail me directly at gggnc@cs.com for more information.

I have a Ferdinand Gnadt arriving in the USA from Germand in 1892. He came with his wife Rosalia, children: Paul, Otto, Clara, William, Emil and a brother Frederick. They settled in Detroit, Michigan according to the 1900 Michigan Census.
