I am descended from Christian Gnadt who settled in Osage County, MO in 1856. One of Christian's sons, William, moved to Jasper County, MO, in 1871. William had a son, David William, who lived in Cherokee County, KS and later Bellingham County, WA. David had a son named Frederick E. born in 1906. I think this son was living in Independence, MO when he died in 1971. Could this Fred Gnadt be your grandfather?
I am descended from Christian's son, Julius Gnadt. My information on William's line is sketchy, but I will share what I have.

My grandfather died about 15 years ago at 90+ years of age. Let me do some checking for the exact dates. He does have a son, my uncle also named fred. They both spent their entire lives in Wabaunsee Co., Kansas.
