Paul,
I descend from a susan gmitter that married a john hudak in the 1870's or 1880's. They were from Bardejov I believe. They had several children: Adam, John, Joseph, George, Andy, Mary and Ann. Some immigrated to western Pennsylvania. Some of them stayed in Slovakia. I decend from Adam. Adam's wife was Susan Vardzall also from Bardejov. Any connection?

Surnames: BILSZKY
Tim, I noticed you also have a BILSZKY in your family...so do I. My great grandmother was Vilma Bilszky from Nagy Senkvic. She came to US in 1910 and stayed with her sister, Klara Bilszky. On the Ellis Island manifest it lists her father at Anton Bilszky. Anything sound familiar?

Rob,
my grandmother was Ann Gmitter, born Hudak. She was born in 190... or 191... As I know, her brothers went to U.S. and after then she didn´t see they anymore. I try to find more information about her.

Hi There
I do family history record indexing which is basically transcribing of hand written records into typed format. I often google 'different' surnames along with their country background to get the correct spelling and I came across your posts. I just have some information that anyone doing their Gmitter line may want to know or you may possibly already have it, but if you don't here is a record I indexed today.

It is from 1930 Hudson, New Jersey Census.
Thomas Gmitter aged 43 immigrated from Slovakia 1906
Mary Gmitter aged 37 immigrated from Slovakia 1913
They are married and have 3 sons:
George aged 14
John aged 10
Frank aged 9

I hope maybe this can help someone out with their family history.

Good Luck!
