The Glynn's are from county Galway, Ireland. My grandfather,John Colman Glynn, was born in a worker's cottage{demolished in 1998} at 12 Boland's Lane, Gort, Galway in 1897.He died in College Point, N,Y, in 1959.He fought in ww1 for the us army. He was awarded the silver star, purple heart, and la croix de guerre at the battle of Aisne-Marne in france. His father,my great grandfather, was Lawrence Glynn. He enlisted in the British Army in 1871 at Ennis. He listed his place of birth as Gort. While in the British Army he met and married a woman named Mary Stazza{my great grandmother}. She was born in Bombay,India. I don't know if she was Italian, Portugese, or Spanish. She returned to Gort with my great grandfather in 1889 when he was discharged from the British Army.

My GGGgrandfather was Phillip Glynn, born about 1836 believe came from Galway but have not been able to verify. The earliest record I have so far is a ? Glynn arrived by ship in NY in 1768. Would be happy if someone has additional information.

Thanks
Marge

I guess that should be Briarfield, Tuam, Co Galway. That is not far from where my Mother was born....... I am a Glynn .... as far as i know there is no relation. I live in Dublin 150 miles from there but if you like why not post a letter to The Glynn Family, Briarfield and see if you get a reply.
Meanwhile see glynnfamily www site at
