My ancestor was a Patrick Glynn, born circa 1822 Galway ireland. Probably in the Monivae area. One of his sons, Michael, born 1861, came to Australia. He was my Great Grandfather. I know this Patrick had a daughter Julia who went to the USA.

No I don't have Michael's birth certificate. I am in Australia. Michael came here as a 20 year old in 1880. His father was Patrick Glynn and his mother Mary Flaherty. He had a brother Matthias, and sisters Anne, Julia and Moira that we know of. He had the name Monivae on the front porch of his house here in Australia. My mother, who is now 85, (Michaels grand daughter) remembers him. Associated Glynn names that we also know of are Darby, born 1851, father Peter, and Thomas, born 1881, Father John and mother Mary Touhy. I have traced several of the Flaherty's here to Australia. I have little detail of my Glynn's from Galway. This is what I am desperatly seeking. I don't know when Patrick and Mary married or where or when they died. I have been told that some records exist in a church or abbey at Tuam.
Are you in Galway ? I have records of ALL the Glynn's that arrived in Victoria Australia in the 1850-1899 period. I also understand that we have a connection with a Peter McGann, the publican of McGann's pub in the Monivae area. Apparently his grand mother was a Glynn.

Regards and keep in touch if you have any further info

Our central registration office address etc can be located from the web site
http://www.groireland.ie/research.htm
Birth Records start at 1864 so this probably too late for easy access to a cert for your ancestor...... However, later siblings may be centrally registered giving the Parish address of the Parents and hence Parish (Roman Catholic) records will give you the exact info you require.

Looking for John Glynn born abt 1849 possibly Carrowreagh, married Mary Fox (who had been married before to a Tuohy) married about 1878 Co Galway, they had 3 known children, Maria born abt 1877 Co Galway, Patrick born abt 1879 Co Galway, and Thomas born abt 1881. We are unsure if perhaps Mary Glynn nee Fox died and John then married another Mary Unknown, and there were a further 5 children - Catherine born 1886, Peter born 1887, Michael born 1891, Martin born 1894 Died 1917 Iraq and John born 1895 they were all born Co Galway. On the 1911 census John (Father) is no longer living and Martin is not at home with the family who were farmers.
On the census for 1901 and 1911 the family are living Clogh (Cappalusk, Galway)
John born abt 1848's parents are Patrick Glynn born abt 1813 and mother Mary Flaherty born abt
1824.
John had at least 10 siblings that we know of, 3 of whom came to Victoria Australia.
Also John & Mary Glynn nee Fox son Thomas Glynn died in Lidcombe, New South Wales, he spent some time in Gaol in NSW.
If anyone is able to help with any of the above we would be very
thankful.
