SALEM – Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home for Freda R. Hofmeister, 93, formerly of Melbourne Avenue in Boardman, who passed away Monday morning, June 4, 2012 at Blossom Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Salem, Ohio.

Mrs. Hofmeister was born May 26, 1919, in Youngstown, Ohio a daughter of Louis H. and Emma C. Lange Gluck.

Freda was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church and a 1937 graduate of South High School. She went into cosmetology and sang with the Arian Chorus. After her marriage, she directed the Versatile Singers and later started a 20 year business in her home doing paper tole wedding invitations.

Her husband, Richard L. Hofmeister, whom she married Nov. 17, 1946, died Nov. 9, 2008.

Surviving her is a daughter, Judie (John) Conti of Boardman, Ohio and three sons, Richard L. (Kristin) Hofmeister of Austintown, Ohio, Leroy W. (Teresa) Hofmeister of Bossier City, La. and Donald L. Hofmeister and his partner, Donna McGuire-Cole of Austintown, Ohio. Also three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death, besides her husband and parents, are two brothers, William and Al Gluck; a sister, Lois McCracken; and two grandchildren, Amy Hofmeister and Eric Hofmeister.

Friends may call from 10 to 10:50 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hofmeister’s family would like to thank everyone at the Blossom Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful and loving care they gave their mother.

The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to the church endowment fund, Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Drive, Boardman, OHIO 44512.
