I am related to Glomb's from Dalton County, Michigan (near Muskegon), who came from Chicago. My great-grandfather was Peter Glomb who arrived in 1907. I recently learned he had a brother that arrived before him, Frank. Frank had a son named Julian, which is the line we were able to piece togethar that is related to us. Is my Frank the same as your Frank?! Peter's brother Frank was married to Josephine Janowicz.

GLOMB or GLAB, Peter of Poland 1882

Hello,
I am searching for information on my great grandfather, Peter GLOMB or GLAB, born approx. 1882 in Poland(Russian), immigrated to US in 1907. Arrived over 1 year prior to wife, Josefa (Josephine) maiden name Mazur. She arrived in 1909 with baby Victoria (my grandmother). Lived in Chicago, IL then moved to Dalton, Michigan. Found ship records for both and home town name in Poland (Grabiny & Skutnik), but cannot pin point exact place in Poland as there are many towns with the same name in Poland. Believe he had a brother "Frank" that immigrated in about 1904 and lived in Chicago also. Found obituary for Frank, but no ship record (yet!).

Hi,

I recently found more detail on my Ggrandfather, Peter Glomb. Piotr Glab immigrated from Grabiny (Russian Poland) in 1907. His wife Josefa Glab (maiden name Mozur?) also from Grabiny immigrated to US in 1909 with first child, Victoria (my grandmother). Both resided in Cook County, Illinois for a number of years, perhaps with other family members. Then moved to Allegan County, Michigan. *Ships Passenger record lists nearest kin in Poland as "Maroin" Glab, father. Need help researching Polish records to find family!

I was so excited to see someone I knew on here that I forgot to mention that you had some of the facts wrong. His name was Frances (but he went by the name of frank) and I am sure his son was also Frances. I am unsure of the birth order but I know that Eddie was the baby. I know Helen was older than Elsie. I know Marie lived in Dearborn until the time of her death which I think was in the 1980's. I also know that Frances was born in Poland and Marie was born in Austria.

Marlene
I am researching my LaBuda roots and your name came up. Was your grandmother Augustina LaBuda Klavikowski, wife of Ted Klavikowski? She died very young, but had 3 daughters: Clara, Ruth and Esther (twins). Ruth married an Anthony M Glomb and had 2 children, one of which is Marlene. Is that you? I would be happy to correspond with you about our relatives!
Donna Adamiec
Glomb's

Hi all,
Recently I saw a photo of a man named John Glomb of Lehigh University, who looked almost identical to my grandfather Frank. I almost chocked on my coffee when I saw the photo. This John could be a twin to my grandfather. They both have the same eyes, nose, smile, teeth (which my mother had the same) it's very uncanny and a bit nerve wracking. Now I'm not sure if there's a Glomb connection in PA or outside of Michigan, I do know that my great grandfather is suppose to have come from Poland somewhere. I have no idea. But, Frank Sr. was a very small man, 5'6 or so. Dark hair, and that nose. It's hard to mistake.

Anyways, maybe there's some connection we can find through photos? Goodness the surname GLOMB is not that common people!.

Sincerely,
Kimberley Page

Frank & Tillie Glomb are my mother's parents. His father was Frank Glomb, born 1855(?), not sure where, died 1909 at Shiner, TX. My grandfather Frank was one of 14 children. Story told by the family was that their Father, Frank was a stowaway on a passenger ship to Galveston as a teeneger to get away from a large family. After landing, he had to work off his passage. He was a carpenter by trade and a farmer. My grandfather Frank told us that the name Glomb was actually French in origin.
My great grandmother was Anna (Lanca) Glomb, born 1864 in Moravia, died 1949 at Shiner, TX. They married in 1882 at Hallettsville, TX.
My research on my Glomb family tree has always dead ended here.
Would appreciate any information available.

Cletus Glomb and John Glomb are my grandfathers brothers. George Glomb is my grandfather. John Glomb is also the name of my grandfathers Father. John the father came here in 1886. On the 1930 census it says he was a Director in music. His boys John, Cletus, and Joseph were musicians in the orchestra and Edward another son was a drug clerk. It would be exciting if we could connect the lines.
Thanks for your response, I look forward to hearing from you.
Karen

The Brothers GLOMB

I hope this might help connect us GLOMB's...
Recently while taking a trip to the Chicago area, I talked with my uncle who is a GLOMB, as far as we can tell right now there is no connection to the GLOMB family who are also in Chicago...but... that might not be true now... my uncle told me of a story about how his grandfather Frank who was also known as Francis(zek) came to the US/Chicago with his brother or brothers, they started out in Chicago then going off to their seperate ways. Frank and his brothers came to visit a cousin in Chicago who was a Walerlan/Waleryan Glomb.
My uncle said that he talked about a Stan who was related, but no other information is had about Stan.
My GLOMB line went to Detroit Michigan.
My great grandfather came over in 1911, but we know that someone in the family GLOMB came over twice before the rest of the family did, in 1902 and 1910.
Last but not least, their is mention that either a grandfather or uncle came over in the late 1890's and was bound for either New York or Chicago.???
Makes me wonder...
Good luck with the searching.
Kim
They were from Poland? Not really sure.

Would like to know if any of these names mean anything to you.

Kim

My name is George Edward Glomb and I was born in The Bronx, NY. My grandparents were George Geza Glomb and Irma Liptay. They were from Austria-Hungry and migrated here in the late 1800s and returned and then remigrated in the early 1900s. All my known relatives are scattered through NY though I live in NJ. I would like to see if anyone thinks they are related. Danke.

GLOMB family

Hi, I'm looking for any information regarding the family "GLOMB". My Great Grandfather was Frank Anthony Glomb who was married to Marie M. KARPICZ. Most of the GLOMB family I know of are from Michigan and few from Illinois. Frank and Marie had at least 5 children that I know of. Godfrey, Edward, Franklin Jr, and a couple of sisters. I'm unclear of the ladies names.

Thankx for the help
Kimberley

Hello GLOMB family in search of other family connections.
I'm looking for some connection to our family. It seems that some of us are from the Chicago (south side) area. My uncle lives in Matteson, Ill. Just down the street from some other non direct Glomb's. My uncle is not certain if they are related to him...he's kind of the loner of the family.
I know this. My great grandfather was Frank Anthony Glomb born in Detroit, Michigan. Frank had several brother's and sister's. I know a couple of names. Eddie who married Marion (she later divorced him just before he died and took her maiden name back) Eddie was I believe the youngest. Godfred who married Betty his high school sweetheart. I know that there is a great aunt to my mom I believe her name is something like Noonie. There is a son of I believe Godfred whos name is Edward Glomb who is the Police Chief in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. There is also my uncle Robert (Bob) and my mom, Patricia (Patti) Glomb. I believe that most of my GLOMB family were born in Michigan with the exception of my cousin Traci, who is no longer with us.
I would love to hear about other GLOMB's in the world, we might have a connection. Who knows. GLOMB is not a common name, and I know that my GLOMB's from Michigan were plentyful. LOL
Happy hunting.
Kim

Hello Kimberly,

I'm wondering whether our '"Glomb"ancestors are related. My great-grandfather was Charles Glomb; he married Florentina Suchansky.

We believe Charles and Florentina immigrated from Poland to the US in the late 1980's or early 1990's, as some of my grandmother's siblings were born here, and some were born in Poland. They settled in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

This may be the branch of the family who 'arrived earlier' than the Frank/George Glomb branch, and who were thought to have settled on the East Coast. Two of their sons were named George and Frank, which suggests the families are related (although these are common names).

I may be confusing Charles Glomb with another great grandparent (about whom I also know very little), but believe he was a mason. Some of the things he built are still intact in W-B, supposedly.

Please let me know if you think there is a connection. We know nothing of the Glomb family other than what I've just relayed, and it's a bit sketchy, as you can tell.

Thank you!

Linda Titus

Glomb Surname

I am searching for the Glomb Surname. My Great-Grandfather was Constantine Glomb. He was born March 15, 1859 in Berlin, Germany. This is according to his death certificate. He died July 23, 1936 in Glendale, Los Angeles, California. He was visiting his daughter Tekla Winneguth. He was married to Jodwiga (Hedwig)Spera. She was born to Anton Spera and Mary Weis, on August 1, 1865 in Katovic, Germany. They came to the United States sometime between May 1887 and June 1889. I don’t know from which port they came from or came into. I know the dates due to the fact that one child was born in Germany and the next child was born in the United States. It is said that we are related to Glombs in Allegenry County, Pennsylvania, though we have not been able to find out how we are related. The Glomb’s in PA always talked about having cousins in Chicago,Illinois.

Constantine and Hedwig had eight children as follows:

Martha H. Glomb (Jasinski) born 12-1884 in Germany;death unknown

Gertrude Glomb (Swider) born 5-1887 in Germany; died 2-14-1972 in Ponoma, California

Tekla Glomb (Winneguth) born 6-1889 in Chicago,Illinios; died 2-1966

Margaret Glomb (Jablonski) born 7-4-1890 in Chicago, Illinois ; death unknown

Edward Glomb born 6-1892 in Chicago, Illinois death unknown

Rose Glomb born 5-1894 in Chicage, Illinois; died 7-1973 in Ingleside, Illinois

Conrad Glomb born 5-20-1896 in Chicago, Illinois; died August 24, 1957 in Wrightwood, California

Dorthy Glomb (Hanczuk) born 2-3-1904 in Chicago, Illinois died 12-25-1997 in Illinois

Conrad Glomb is my grandfather.
