I have been doing research for a co-worker whose father's name was charles globis (1906-1987). He was married to woman named Elizabeth Forman(ski). Both were from families who immigrated from Poland/Prussia around the year 1900 and then resided in Chicago. Charles Globis' parents names were Joseph Globis and Anna Lawrence. This is about all the information we have been able to track down. Can you be of any help? We would certainly appreciate any assistance. Thanks for posting your message.

my father was born on ll-5-l918, his name is charles globis, though his father, john was born in lithuania on june 23, l884. From the information i was given, my grandfather john, had a brother named Joseph who died on 5-7-50 in Chicago. My information is limited and hard to come by. i never thought that there could be someone named Globis and not be related to me.? One more thing, do notice in one of my sons geneology reports, my grandfather also had a brother named Vincent and he was born l2-23-l868. If any of this connects, let me know. good luck. denise

I think you are right about the connection--although I do not have any documentation. According to 1910 cencus records, Joseph Globis (who may be your great uncle) was also born in Lithuania. His age on the census is 43, which places his birth year at about 1867. The census record also says he immigrated in 1892. I know he was in Chicago by 1903, because I have record of his marriage there.

Information and records about the Globis name are hard to come by, so I hope this is a connection. We have been looking for over two years. If you are interested in talking to Beth Globis Smith (my co-worker), let us know.

hello, how are you ?

I would be willing to share all the knowledge that I do have. thanks, denise

Beth Globis Smith is interested in talking with you as well. We are in Arizona. You can call her at work at 1-800-999-1200 (the company is called WestGroup Research). She was telling me earlier this week that her son met a man here in the Phoenix area whose name is also Globis. She plans on talking to him soon as well to see if he fits in the picture.

Did your father ever live in Chicago? Beth has some paper work that shows an uncle by the name of Joseph Globis who resided on South Campbell Avenue in Chicago in 1942. Any ideas?

If you are interested in talking with me, you can also call the above 1-800 number. I only work part time because I am mostly a mom--but they can transfer the calls to me. I am still kind of a novice when it comes to genealogy research, but I would be happy to tell you the little I know.

Hi.. I just saw your message and am excited to see that there are more Globis's out there! My grandfather's name was Charles Globis and he left for Chicago in the early '30s. We don't know what happened to him after that. Any info?

My grandfather was John A. Globis, 1910-1978. To my knowledge he had a brother named Charles who lived in Mesa AZ at the time of his passing, and a sister named Josephine, who lived in Sun City, AZ at the time of her passing 3 years ago in her late '90s.

My mom, Joan Globis Tamburo, may be your first cousin!

Any ?s email me at johntam@mbfs.com

Thanks
John Tamburo
