Surnames: Gliddon, Holyoake, Bunting
Looking for further info on the daughters of the John & Florimel - Marianne b about 1837, (possibly in Devon)England and Julia b1844 Kensington Area England.

Marianne is believed to have travelled to USA prior to 1860 She appears on the 1860 New York census, living with Anne Gliddon wife of George Robbins Gliddon. Anne was widowed and returned to England by 1864 with son Charles, to Margate. No information is held by the family as to Marianne's whereabouts after 1860.
She may have married in the US or she may have died???
Any info would be much appreciated.

Julia emigrated to Australia about 1860 but her place of arrival is unknown - In about 1868 she married Thomas Smyth Holyoake and in 1874 married Wm Bunting - she died 8 July 1903 in the Norther Flinders Ranges area of South Australia

Hi

I'm a direct descendent of Henry John Gliddon b.1838), John and Florimel's first born son. Note: her name is actually MARY Florimel Leigh Hunt. She was the daughter of poet James Henry Leigh Hunt, better known as Leigh Hunt,

I'm in the very early stages of researching my family tree, however, I do know that Mary Anne (note: the different spelling to what you have) was indeed born in 1837 in London and died 16 November 1862 at 4 Euston Square, London.

I don't have any information on Julia for you, I'm afraid.

Regards, Sharon Hanlon (Adelaide, Sth Aust, Australia)

Hi, I'm also a descendant.
Brian in answer to your enquiry Marianne (maryanne also)
apparantly died at her Uncle Thorntons home at age 25.
Julia her sister arrived in SA and died at Lynda mines in the far North and married a Bunting.
Unable to find any record of mariage to T.S.Holyoake.
As far as I know they may not have married or did ?
However an E.A. Gliddon reported his death.
Assuming this is her brother your ancestor.
Cheers Marti.

G'day Cousin Sharon
I think we've been in touch before

Anyway just found this in my In tray - no idea how long ago you posted it .

Mine was Henry John's brother Edmund Arthur (m Francis Humphreys) I've got pretty well everything that's been documented (by various people including Leigh Hunt, Anne Gliddon, Wendy Norman in NZ Wendy's brother Richard Russell in UK, plus some from descendents of John henry's other siblings, Chris and Julia (As far as I know, the other sister marianne dies without any kids ) I have a year or sdo back published a book "Polly's Lot" of my lot centred around my grandmother Marianne Francis (Polly) Gliddon I've concentrated on the (mainly Australian) ancestors - back to her and her husbands grandparents and forward to my generation. I have it both as a printed book (around 150 A4 pages ) or as a CD with a PDF of the book plus a 'website' version which gives some additional info plus pictures in colour (where applicable)

So - as to my research - it's pretty much at an end - I don't intend to add any of the few missing bits but should any of significance turn up, most of the people who have my book are on e-mail, so I'd jest send them an addendum

Perhaps there is some info you are missing and I can help you with.

just give me a shout - briandot@tpg.com.au

Nice to hear from you, Marti.

My lineage is:

Henry John GLIDDON m Mary NALLY
Henry Arthur GLIDDON m Edith Lillian CLIFFORD
Arthur Edmund John GLIDDON m Eilleen Holmsdale BARTLETT

... with the remainder still living.

I have managed to find records back to my 8th great grandfather but with very limited detail (ie dates of birth/death etc).

Would be very interested to view your tree. Can you provide a link/address?

Sharon

G'day Sharon

Dont have my full tree on Ancestry - Contact me via briandot@tpg.com.au - I've got the full tree on a GEDCOM file which you can likely import into any Geneology program (eg Cumberland, Family tree maker etc)

I'm also in touch with Martina (Marti) who is a cousin of yours, she too is a descendant of Henry John Gliddon, her ancestor is Julia Florimel , Henry Arthur's eldest sister

Regards

Brian
