I am looking for a connection of some sort between my great grandmother Elizabeth Ladd born 1808 and the Glidden family. I know that Elixzabeth Ladd married my great grandfather James Clark in 24 Feb 1826 in Morgan Co. Ind. But I don't know who Elizabeth ladd's people were at all. A rumor persisted in my family that Elizabeth Ladd, my father Oscar H. Clark's grandmother was related to the Glidden family in some way. but sadly my father never gave me any other information what ever about his own grandmother. Now I am 74 and trying to piece out the Clark side of my famly tree. Any info most appreciated.

Hi Patsie - I don't recognize the name Elizabeth, but I would suggest you contact Rev and Mrs. Glidden at CEGLIDDEN@aol.com. They've been compiling info for a book on the Glidden Family and have been a great resource for me. Good Luck! Lori

Elizabeth Ladd and Glidden?
Hi thanks so much for your concern but over the past few months I found out exactly who my great grandmother's family was all the way back to John Ladd the immigrant who came here from Eng in 1600 and married a Bathsheba Ladd. So now my lineage goes John Ladd, Amos Ladd, Noble Ladd, Noble ladd, Noble Ladd, Christopher Ladd my great, great grandfather, and Elizabeth Ladd, his daughter, and my great grandmother. Found this out through Ladd message board, my goodness what a lovely time I had. Now if I could find the parents of my great grandfather James Clark who married Elizabeth Ladd I would really be a happy camper. Thanks for your interest.

i am sorry but I do not know any of these people. The only reason I had inquired about Glidden was many years back my mom had the mistaken idea that Elizabeth Ladd, my dad's grandmother was related to the Glidden paint people. which was proved to be a mistake completely. she came from a long list of Ladds going back to John Ladd the immigrant in 1500 and his wife Bathsheba. So I have no info on the "Gliddens at all.

According to Westbrook researchers Francis Glidden was born 3 Aug 1826 in Morgan Co, OH, son of Thomas Jefferson Glidden and Lavina Blake. On 2 Apr 1845 he married Margaret Westbrook in Belmont Co, OH. He is in 1850 Monroe Co, Oh; 1860 Noble Co, OH and Margaret appears to be in the 1870 Jackson TWP, Brown Co, IN. Does anyone know who they may have gone west with? Would appreciate hearing from you if so. Mary

Mary; Not sure the answer to your question, have some of my own regarding Francis & Margaret. Just found them as gg Grandparents via their daughter Martha Jennie Glidden Norman b. Feb. 1863 in Indiana. Her daughter, Beryl Norman b. 1898 was my grandmother. Are these names familiar? Thanks, Teresa K.

Debra; I'm trying to verify or make more firm the connection between my great grandmother Martha Jennie Glidden Norman b. Feb. 1863 in Indiana and her parents, which look to be Francis & Margaret Glidden. Martha's daughter was Beryl Norman b. 1898, my grandmother. My Mom was Beryl Norman Berbos. Any thoughts? Thanks, Teresa Kuehl, Pittsburgh
