Dear John,
How wonderful to hear from you. It has been an amazing journey to hear from the various branches of my historical family. I hope you are all well and I am thrilled to hear your father is still living.
My father, Florian, died in 1999. two of his four siblings are already gone, as well.
My grandfather, Stanley, born in 1886, died in the 1960's. He was married to Carolina Wiech of North Tonawanda.
If I may, is your father from the North Tonawanda clan or did his family settle in Long Island originally? I know of two Stanleys who were cousins from North Tonawanda. I believe one was a Stanley F. Glica. My aunt, Magdalene Krzyzek, who was my dziadzia's sister, lived in Rhode Island. They were from Sluczynski, Debrowa, Galicia, Austria (the southern part of today's Poland near Krakow). They were staunchly proud of their Polish heritage and would have never dreamed of calling themselves Austrian.
I have found several immigration records for Stanley Glica's over the years. Some came from Russia. They may be from another branch of the family. Glica is such a clearly rare name, my assumption, although I have not proven it yet, is that we are all related at some level.
Who was your father's father? Do you know specifically how he is related to our branch?
I don't know if you speak Polish, but dzienkuje, John and powodzenia, which mean thank you and good luck!
