My ancestor was William Glendinning, born Torthorwald about 1804x1811. He married Margaret Ferguson at Dumfries Parish Church in 1831 and worked as a sawyer in Dumfries (St.Michaels Street). By 1861 he was a sawyer in Troqueer (Church Street).
They had 7 known children -
1) Mary Glendinning, born about 1832. She married (as his 2nd wife) James Gardiner, a coachman of Anwoth. She died in Dumfries in 1883, having had 7 children.
2) William Ferguson Glendinning born about 1835. He married Robina Graham Turner in Dumfries in 1854. Worked as a builder, and lived in Greenbrae Lane, Dumfries. They had 13 children.
3) Agnes Glendinning, born about 1839. Married David Kirk, a slater of Loreburn Street in Dumfries in 1861.
4) John Glendinning born about 1843. A blacksmith.
5) Jane Glendinning, born about 1846.
6) Janet Glendinning born about 1850.
7) James Glendinning, born 10th May 1855.
