My husband's maternal grandmother was a Gleasure, from Co Kerry in Ireland. Don't know much more but I can try and find out! Some of the family are still living in the area.

Thanks for your info. If you could look into your husband's maternal grandmother's Gleasure ancestry, it would be appreciated.

My first cousins still leave in Tralee and Kilflynn.

Thanks

Richard

My wife's maiden name is Gleasure. Her father's side are a big farming family in Co Cork (around Kinsale / Belgooly). They also have lots of Gleasure relatives in Kerry (some farmers but also a large Undertakers business!). My wife's mother has done lots of looking into the origins of the family etc but must admit that I have not really taken that much of it in. I understand that the name is a phonetic bastardisation of Glazier - you can see where this comes from if you say the name with a Cork/Kerry accent.

I have info on Gleazer family from Ardfert, County Kerry who moved to Belfast in the 1870s. Would they be connected to Gleasures you are interested in?

Hi, my name is Samantha Gleasure, and I was wondering if there were any Gleasures in the United States. I was just surfin the web, looking for my name, and it brought me to here. I don't really know too far back in my family's geneology, but my grandmother knows a lot, and has told me that our family traces back to Ireland. Hope you have a wonderful day, and I hope to hear for you soon!

Your grandmother is probably right.
Let me know where your grandparents or greatgrandparents were born and I may be able to help you trace your line.

Regards,

Richard

Hi John,
I believe your family originated from the Kilflynn area which is where my grandfather Adam Gleasure farmed, followed by his son James Gleasure and then grandson Adam Gleasure (my first cousin).
My email address is dgleasure@shaw.ca if you would like to drop me a line as I am quite interested in the Robert Gleasure line. I have been able to trace my ancestry back to my great great grandparents Adam Glazier and Catherine Ruttell but no further.
Look forward to hearing from you.
