Obit of Mrs. Sallie Kate Glass Pierce, Attala County, Mississippi 1889

Sallie Kate Glass Pierce was born in Attala County, Mississippi September 29, 1867. She was the daughter of Hon. F. M. and M.A. Glass. She was married to Hugh H. Pierce December 26, 1888. Sister Pierce made a profession of religion very early on life and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, and lived a devoted member until the day of her death, which sad even occurred February 23, 1889. Sister Pierce was one of our best women- she was meek, quiet and retiring in her disposition, but progressive in her nature. Goodness and benevolence were depicted in her countenance. She was a model of order and neatness, and as an angel of mercy she moved in the family and among the large circle of relatives and friends bestowing a kind word on all. She was the center of attraction among her many friends. She was one of nature’s noblest women. With her beauty of person and smoothness of temper, intensified by the religion of Jesus Christ, she became a character that was beautiful to contemplate. One feature in her life was specially prominent; that was devotion to her father and mother. Such willing obedience is rarely seen. Her last sickness was of short duration, but was very painful. She bore it with patience and fortitude. When the final end came, she gave clear evidence of her preparation and willingness; then asked those who were present to meet her in heaven. Thus she passed away to live where there is no more sorrow. It is sad to think we will meet her no more in this life, but there is comfort in the hope of a reunion in the glory-world. God grant that we may meet those we have loved where death and parting are no more! W.W. Williams

Not my line, just sharing. Since this was cut out and out in a scrapbook, I couldn't site it. I think it may be from the Kosciusko Star Herald.
