Aloha James,

I'm a Glaskin, Derek Gilbert, son of Lewellyn and Lyla Hume 1957.
I just discovered this site and wanted to say hello. My uncle Gerry use to often talk to me about India and when l found out there were Glaskin up there I was quite surprised!

Well hello relative, greetings from Kauai Hawaii!

derekirra@yahoo.com
Fredric Glaskin Western Australia

I would like to speak to a family member who may have information about his soap factory in Perth Western Australia.
Leo Van de Pas published an article in a genealogy journal back in 1997 about Frederic Glaskin. Some of it is incorrect and I have some other queries. I cant find a contact on his site. There is a log in but not a registration to be able to log in.

I would really like to speak to a family member who may be able to give me more information about his soap factory. A lot cannot be true as facts dont gel. My ancestor worked for him as a foreman. This is the best lead I have.
Kind regards

Hi Tracy, sad to say Chris' father Jimmy passed away last week and I have all but very fond memories of my Uncle Jimmy, he was great fun to be with when we were children and yes he lived in Thornton Heath. Jimmy had a brother called Johan of whom is my step-grandfather so that may be where you get the name John from, Johan now resides in a nursing home with my nan. My mother's family came from Calcutta in approx 1955, yes Bernard married and has family and yes there was a tragic car accident.
I've not long got my facebook account back up and running so anyone who would like contact may find me there under Alison Medcalf, kind regards

Thankyou for your messages.

Yes I have seen Leos site and have spoken to him many times over the years.

Leo is an expert on the Australian development of the family line and he encouraged my own extensive research with my knowledge being centered around the line of the family who went to India in the early 1800s returning in 1948.

However some stayed on and some also went to Australia.

Sadly some of the information On Leos site is in need of updating and correcting, my fault for not sending him all my findings.

It was James Adolphus Glaskin who married Celia Evelyn Vanovy , he was my grandfather!

James Henry Glaskin the last one (their were a few ) was in fact my father.

Any one with a Glaskin family interest please feel free to contact me via e-mail.

James Hudson-Glaskin

Thank you so much for your message. I'm sure there is a connection and have loads of questions to ask you. Sybil was known all her life by her chosen name 'Heather'. There is a big mystery about her and her first husband, Moritz Glaskin (my father). Heather died aged 80 something in the late 90's. She had a daughter with Moritz who lives in Harrogate.

I think you may well be related to the Liebenhals who lived in McLeod Street in Calcutta.

Can't go into details just now as am in a rush. Currrently living in Cambodia teaching English! I would like to get finger talking to you so if you can reply to me on my private email address it would be easier and I can copy in to my cousin (family geneologist and my niece). We are all facinated by the story.

I actually live, or am based in the Isle of Man. I'm celebrating by 60th year by taking off and being irresponsible and doing what I want!

Oh yes, My name is Jan Holland try and send your contact details to jan.iom@gmail.com.
Lizzie

What else do you know of the Liebenhals family?

I have in my tree a Clara Ann Rodda who married John Christopher Liebenhals in Calcutta in 1864. John was the son of Christopher (Christian) Frederick Liebenhals and Catherine Kent. He had a brother James Daniel who married Isabella Josephine Marolly in 1857. They had Eveline Constance in 1860, Catherine Isabella in 1864, Alfred Ernest in 1867, Edward Alick Fenlow in 1870.

There was also a James Christian Liebenhals who had a wife Delia Sarah and they had a daughter Iva Marie in 1886 and Irene Isabelle in 1889.

There was also a Charles Stuart Liebenhals who had a wife Mary Morrison (m in 1885) and they had a daughter Daisy in 1891.

My John C Liebenhals and Clara I believe had a daughter Wilda Josephine in 1869.

I would be very interested in hearing from you.

Regards
Alex

HI i was just searching the internet and saw this piece - I am Elizabeth Liebenhals - daughter of Bernard Liebenhals born in calcutta and he is one of 7 children to Guy and Nora Liebenhals however I dod not know of sybil. Interesting with such a rare name anyone who ever is a liebenhals tend to be a close relative so I was intersted to see about Sybil as within our family i have never heard of her - although it does depend what generation she is - I am 35 years old.
