Surnames: Glanville Burden
I did eventually sort this lot out and found the connection:

1841 - John Burden is married to Mary Ann Brewer
she dies in the late 1840s

1850 - John Burden marries the widowed Ann Glanville, nee Norkett (John B and John Glanville are both listed as carpenters on the census, so perhaps they worked together?)

1851 - The Glanville children are listed with the Burden surname in the census. The use of the name Cornelius looks like a red herring as there is no connection between the Glanville use of it and the Burden use of it, but John Burden's son (Cornelius) did call one of his sons Adolphus, so perhaps that showed some level of affection/respect for his step-brother?

I haven't got any great amount of info on the Glanvilles other than trying to sort out who was who. The message above gives a website which might give you more info, or try www.glanvillenet.info if you haven't been there already.
