I am not researcing the Gladfelters, but since I was looking up the obit of my former barber, I figured I'd try to help out others & post the two Gladfelters that came up in my search of recent obits for Gladfelters in my local newspaper.
Here they are:


Gladfelter, Frances M.

Frances M. Gladfelter YORK Frances M. (Bair) Gladfelter, 81, died Wednesday, January 18, 2006, at Village Vista Nursing Home in Lancaster. She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Gladfelter. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2006, at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with Pastor Richard B. Starr officiating. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel. Born September 2, 1924, in Hanover, a daughter to the late Emanuel S. and Bessie F. (Lehman) Bair, she was employed for over twenty years as a nurse at the former Westside Sanitarium. Mrs. Gladfelter was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Congregational Church. Mrs. Gladfelter is survived by two stepdaughters, Barbara Hilt of Dover and Nancy Rudisill of Milton, Pa.; five stepgrandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna May Myers of Lancaster. She was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Paul Bair; a sister, Alma Ruppert; and a stepbrother, John Bair. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 2997 Cape Horn Road, Red Lion, PA 17356.

Gladfelter, Mahlon L.

Mahlon L. Gladfelter, 75, died Saturday morning, January 21, 2006, at his home. His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. Jacob's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 99 E. George St., York New Salem. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in St. Jacob's Union Cemetery in York New Salem. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. James M. Emerick from St. Jacob's Lutheran Church. Full military honors will be performed by The York County Veterans Honor Guard at the graveside. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., of Mount Wolf. Mahlon was born on November 11, 1930, in Springfield Township. He was the son of the late Claude E. and Matilda R. (Klinedinst) Gladfelter. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and later graduated from a Barber School in Philadelphia. After graduation, Mahlon worked in Columbia as a barber for a period of time before starting his own barber shop in York in the late 1950s. Some time had passed before building a new barber shop and moving to York New Salem in 1977, where he practiced until the time of his death. He was a member of St. Jacob's Lutheran Church in York New Salem. Mahlon was survived by one sister, Nellie Mae Koller of York; three brothers, Rodger E. Gladfelter and Cleason K. Gladfelter, both of York, and Maynard R. Gladfelter of York New Salem; and several nieces and nephews. Mahlon was preceded in death by a companion, Charlotte Ruth; and a brother, Levere A.
