Looking for a Gladen family that lived in Menne, Germany. They had several daughters. One, Anna who was born in 1842 immigrated to the US and married Ignatius Bremer.

I can not help you with this information, but I am curious where this Village's name comes from. Do you have any information on that???

Re: gladens from Menne,Germany
I do not know where the name of this village originated, but it is a beautiful little village. I visited it in 2005. I can see why you would be interested if your last name is Menne. Did your family originate from Germany?

Re: gladens from Menne,Germany
I have been to Germany several times, including a visit to my family in the southwest. My family emmigrated to the US from Aixheim, Aldingen. It's a really cute village on the edge of the Black Forest.
We asked our family if they knew of other Menne's and they did not. Nor did they know any origin to the name.
I think during my next visit, I will find a way to visit the village of Menne and ask some locals.
If you have any contacts in that village, I would love to ask them.
When did your family come to the US?

Re: gladens from Menne,Germany
All my ancestors were from Germany ranging from probably the early 1800's to the last ones in 1870, being my father's maternal grandmother from Menne. My mother's family were all from Baveria years earlier. The names of some of these people--Wieberg or Wibberg, Bremer, Koerber, Neuner, Haller, Krieg, Kampman, Gladen.
