Hi
I was looking for some more information about my husband's granddfather, George Henry Gladden and found your thread. I know you have stopped looking for your mother's father George Gladden now, but I thought I'd let you know that the other George Henry Gladden, who was the son of William and Annie, nee Kebbell, did fight in France in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers and was shot in the ear, the shoulder and the leg. Then he was taken prisoner by the Germans and they looked after him while his wounds healed up. His wife received a message to say he was missing, but then she heard from him and they corresponded until he eventually returned to England. They already had one son, Len and they proceeded to have two more sons and two daughters, one of whom is my mother in law. It should be easier now to find your grandfather as there is so much information available about WW1.
Good Luck
