VIENNA, Ohio – Mary Diana, 84, died on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at 2:55 p.m. at her home after a sudden illness.
She was born on Aug. 7, 1929, in Royal, Pa., the daughter of the late Matt and Ana Kajfez Gladd.
Mary was a 1947 graduate of the Mecca High School. She worked for 20 years at Valley View as a clerk.
Mrs. Diana was member of the Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in Vienna and the Slovenian Women’s Lodge - Branch No. 54 in Warren, Ohio.
She had many hobbies, flower gardening, vegetable gardening, and she loved her John Deere Tractor. Mary was a self taught button box accordion musician.
Mrs. Diana worked as a volunteer at the Soup Kitchen in Warren, with her church.
Mary enjoyed traveling and Polka dancing with her late husband, Cappy. She had a wonderful sense of humor.
Survivors include her children, Mary Ann Diana of Girard, Ohio, and Cathy (Dan) Diana Wiglusz of Brunswick Hills.
Also surviving are her siblings, John (Jane) Gladd of Mecca, Edward (Dorothy “Dolly”) Gladd of Girard, and Anne O’Block of Vienna.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Other than her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Casper “Cappy” Diana on Sept. 25, 2008, they were united in marriage on June 6, 1953; and her siblings, Frank, Matt, Joseph, and Anthony Gladd.
A Requiem Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at the Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in Vienna.
Family and friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Madasz Chapel in Brookfield.
Morning prayers will also be held at the funeral home on Friday at 10 a.m. prior to going to the church.
Burial will take place at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.
