I'd also be interested in info on this branch of the Glad family. I've not been able to identify Gladys's parents. Can you Help? I've been working on a One Name Study of the Glads in the US.

Dear Sir or Madam:

When I was a young lad in the Bronx we frequented a bar in the Bronx on Webster Aveune and one of the bartenders (in 1956 or 1957)was Sonny Glad, who was supposed to be the brother of Gladys Glad. I will withhold further comment unless I hear further from you.

My mother, Nanon Gardner, was in the Ziegfeld Follies in 1931/32 with Gladys Glad. I have an autographed photo of Gladys to my mother dated 1932. I guess when the Follies ended in 1932 everyone gave each other photos for remembrance - I have several of different people who were in the Follies at that time. I am a member of the Ziegfeld Club. Are you? If not, you should join. They would be happy to have a relative of Glady Glad join and they need new members.

Are you still looking for information on Gladys Glad? I don't know anything about her family, but I look at her picture every day! I have a framed cigarette advertisement from a 1928 issue of American Legion magazine on my wall, and Gladys is shown on an ad that has an endorsement from Florenz Zigfield himself. If you're interested, I can try to scan it and send it to you.

Her mother was Hedwick Jacobi (Hettie). I have a few generations up on that side. My grandmother was her cousin and also a showgirl.

Hi,
I am trying to find out who would be the closest living relative or beneficiary to the estate of Mark Hellinger, Gladys Glad's husband. If anyone has any information, please let me know.

Thanks!
Elizabeth

Hello Gerald
I was looking for pictures of my Aunt Gladys When I noticed the message board. Sonny was my uncle. The question posed by someone was looking for a james or jimmy "glad". There is no family member that I am aware of by that name. You mentioned in your reply that you would withhold any further information unless you get a reply. If there is anything you are aware of about this it would be interesting. I have pictures of Sonny Bartendering. Hope you get this! Regards, Holly Glad
