I am looking for my father's family who I believe reside in Maryland. My father's name was Eugene Leroy Glacken. I have very little information on the family. However, I do know my father had a brother named David, and a sister who I "think" was named Mary Jane (I may be incorrect on this one). My data cannot be verified but I believe my grandfather's name was John Glacken and my grandmother was Mary Ostendoff??? I found my father a few years ago, sadly he had passed away only 8 months before in Elizabethton, TN and Iwould like to find my family. I am very interested in finding out about my heritage and also whether or not I have any other siblings. My mother and father separated before I was born. I have an older brother named Shawn. If anyone has any information, please email me at kathie100260@wmconnect.com

Dear Kathleen,

I have been recently working on Glackin/Glacken relatives. There are two small booklets available in some historical societies (York Co., Pa; Lancaster Co., Pa; Harford Co. Md) regarding the Glacken Clan. These families are from the John Glacken/Ann McCue family that came from Ireland in the early 1800's. Most of those remaining are in the southern York Co. area.

Hello, Kathleen. I believe I am your cousin Laura. My father,Robert, had a brother Leroy, whom I've never met. He moved away and was not in contact with any of the family. He also has brothers named David, Denny, Lenny, Ronald and a sister named Mary Jane.I would love to hear from you.

Kathleen: The obituary of your father said that his father was John Francis Glacken. I have a John Francis Glacken who is a brother of my grandfather, William Glacken. John Francis Glacken was born in Emmitsburg, Maryland in 1915. Your father's obituary says your father was born in 1938, so my John Francis would have been 23 at the time, so that fits. Also, my grandfather's family moved to Baltimore around 1920 when they were kids, so that fits. So there is a good chance that your grandfather and my grandfather's brother are the same person. The Social Security data says that John Francis Glacken died 20 Dec 1989 in Parsonsburg, Wicomico, MD. That is all the information I have on him currently.
