John Adam Glab, my great grandfather always claimed to be associated with Custer and the Battle of the Little Big Horn. Can find no records, but know that he was a cook for the rail road, so maybe he was a cook for the Army before that.. any ideas would be greatly appreciated... tks... curt

You might want to look John Adam Glab up as John Adam Glaub because I seem to recall surfing over a John Adam Glaub Army burial record somewhere online. They sometimes flipped the name spellings back and forth between Glab, Glaab and Glaub. My ancestor Joseph Glab came over from Bavaria around 1852. Do you know the names of any of John Adam's close relatives?

We think that John's father was Peter Glab but his date of birth seems to make that doubtful, because there is only 14 years between the two. It is possible that Peter was his father and he also had a brother Peter, who was 14 years younger. I ran across a Peter Glab in the Civil War from Ohio, who could have been the brother. Wish I knew more but the Glab's are extremely difficult to locate thus far. John's son, my grandpa, was Joseph Jacob Glab who lived and died in Cincinnati and Aurora Indiana. Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Thank you

My Joseph Glab ancester was born in 1830 in Bavaria and didn't start having children until he lived in Wisconsin. There's a Peter Glab/Glaab born in 1830 in the Aschaffenburg area (Schimborn) of Bavaria. I'm hoping they were twins or something. In time I'll be able to tell, hopefully.
