My father in law, Vincent Gizzi, born in Scotland, several brothers and sisters. Father named Michael, brother Dominick, Sister Annie and several others. Lets see if we have a family tree going? I know that Gizzi is a uncommon name and am doing some research to tie some ends. Patricia Gizzi

Hello Peter
It is good to hear from you.
My connection to Gizzi is through my fathers's father.
My grandfather married a Donatella and her mother was Maria Cristina Gizzi.
I have been working on researching Piccinisco and another town near by for a couple of years.
As far as I know , there were no Gizzi boys born in 1858 in Picinisco.
What was your g-g-g-grandfathers name. I may be able to find him born in another year.
Do you have any other information that would help to track him.
I have already located 3 cousins in different parts of the world.

Regards Peter

Hello Peter
The name of my G-G-Grandfather was Michael Angelo Gizzi
he was aged 42 in 1901, so could have been born in 1859.
I also have a date of marriage 22nd march 1884 but i do not know where? We are visiting caserta italy on the17th nov this year do you know through your research if there is any records available for this area how did you find birth details etc.The other imformation that i have not found any imformation about is a place/area called belmonte/ beaumont castello does this mean anything to you. This name seems to be connected with him in some way.

Hello Peter
You will love the trip. We went for the first time in 2000. We went to Atina, Piccinisco and San Biagio, three towns all close together. There were Gizzi's in both the other towns as well.
I may have missed your g-g-grandfather, but I did not seen a Michele Angelo born 1857-8-9 . In fact not close, but like I say I may have missed it.
My information comes from microfilm made by the mormon church which is assesable to anyone. One thing I did notice is that I don't have any records for 1859, so it may not have been on the film. I also looked at my records for San Biagio with the same results. I don't have any information for Atina, but I have just ordered a microfilm for Atina and will look for it.
In Piccinisco , there is a municipal office and they have all the old record books. Do you speak any Italian?
You mentioned Belmonte Castello.
I have no knowledge of that place, however if that had been Monte Casino, that is another town a short drive away.
Here is my email address pascale@attcanada.ca
When you get back from your trip , I hope you will be able to to relay the information you found. Do hope you find him.
Send me your email as well , should I find out more , because I am co-operating with others to connect all the families that came from these towns.
Regards
Peter

Hello Anne Marie
And if I am correct Patricia Gizzi will also get a notice of a message.
Anne Maria, are you related to Peter Gizzie in Wales. He replied to one of my messages a few weeks back.
Anyway, Gizzi is not that uncommon if you are looking in the right place. One of those places is where my great-grandmother came from which is Piccinisco, in the province of Frosinone, Lazio , Italy. My family is connected by a marriage of a Donatella to a Gizzi.
If either of you have information going back to 1865 or so I may be able to add to it.
Regards
Peter Pascale

hello Peter
In your other message you mentioned that you were goint to visit Caserta next month.
Would that be Caserta the town or Caserta the province? And are you going to visit Picinisco which may have been in the province of Caserta at one time but is now in the province of Frosinone. I don't know when the boundries changed.
If you are going to Picinisco , I assume you will stop at the municipal office and make inquiries, then I would like to send you something directly. Here is my email address that you can send me yours. pascale@attcanada.ca
Regards and thanks
Peter
