I am researching the Gizzi name. My great,
great grandmother was Giovanna Gizzi - her
father was Domenico Gizzi. They lived in the
town of Colliano, province of Salerno in the
Campania Region of Italy.

Do you know where your family came from?
I look forward to hearing from you.

This is my husband's family. He says they're from Letto Polena, Italy. His grandfather's name was Domenico Gizzi and married a Leonita in the NY area some time around 1915-1918.

Actually, this is my husband's line. The probably bad news for you is that his line comes from Lettopalena, Italy and Abruzzo, Italy. My husband's father, Marino Gizzi, is first generation. The grandmother, Leondina, came over around 1914 from Lettopalena.

My husband's Uncle Vincent lives in Carmel, NY and was probably born in Yonkers, NY. The grandfather, Dominic (Domenico) came over before Leondina (again from Lettopalena).

But if I can help you out, let me know.

This is my husbands name also. The family moved from Italy to Scotland. Vincent (my father in law) lived with his mother and sisters and brothers. Father passed away when he was small. How did you go about tracking the Gizzi's to Italy. Would like to try and find the links. Patricia

My husband's grandmother came over from Lettopalena, Italy some time around 1913-1915 and landed at Ellis Island. Her soon-to-be husband, Domenico, had come over a few years earlier from the same village. There's a website (don't remember the exact address) that's accessbile by entering "Lettopalena Project". It lists lineages of I think everyone from the village (most of whom have descendants in America). The man that put together all the info did an incredible job. It also lists names of people from surrounding villages. My husband's family is on it back to the 1700s. So give it a try. Also, I belong to something called Ancestry.com. It's a genealogy website run by the Mormons (but you don't have to be a Mormon). Let me know how else I can help you. I've been at this for a while and have some of my family lines back to the 1600s.

Patricia, I tried to reply to your e-mail (but I guess I took a stupid pill this a.m.) The reply has your name on it as if you sent it. So check 4/29/01 from Patricia Gizzi. Let me know if that doesn't work and I'll rewrite the e-mail.
