Hi to anyone who reads this message. We are searching for any Gizinskis who may be related, I am especially interested in Gizinskis who remain in Poland. The farthest back I know about is my great grandfather Joseph (Jozef) Gizinski who came from Poland to Philadelphia, I believe just prior to 1915. In Poland he married Rose Nowak and they had one son Robert before coming to US. Once in US they had one more son, Jerome. That's all I know but I would love to hear from someone who had more info. Thanks!

Hi Jara. I am not sure if I am related to you, but we joint the same family name. Gizinski is my grandmother nee name, her first name was Jadwiga, she had 5 sisters, two of them immigrated to the States, one was Rozalia/Rosa, but she probably could not be your great granmother, she lieved in Philadelphia, I have same strange address form early 70s : 807S.2nd Str. Philadelphia. Her sister's name in the States was Kazimiera/Casimira or Carol?, marrige name Menzel, Mentzel?. They immigrated to USA between 1905-1917, escaping from Tchar terror. That is everything what I know about my family links. My great grandfather's name was Antoni Gizinski, they became from Central Poland. Rest of family remains in Warsaw, Poland. If by any chance you have any information about family Gizinski, not related to you, but maybe it relates to my, could you share it with me please. By. Elizabeth

Hi, Elizabeth. I was very excited to see your message. The information sounded very familiar and so I checked with my aunt and my father's cousin, both of whom are older and know more about family details. I would like to share with you what my dad's cousin Bobby told me. While his story and yours don't match exactly, there are too many similarities for me to believe it is a coincidence! He wrote:

THAT MESSAGE FROM ELIZABETH HAS A LOT OF FAMILIAR INFO IN IT BUT I'M NOT SURE ALL
THE FACTS ARE CORRECT. THE STORY AS IT WAS TOLD TO ME BY MY GRANDMOTHER, YOUR
GREAT GRANDMOTHER ROSE/ROSIE/ROZALIA GIZINSKI. ROSE GIZINSKI WAS MARRIED TO
JOSEPH GIZINSKI WHO HAD SEVERAL SISTERS NOT SURE HOW MANY BUT 5 SOUNDS RIGHT.
GRANNY GIZINSKI HAD ONE SISTER NAMED MARGARET OR AUNT MAGGIE AS I CALLED HER.
THE NAME OF ROSE AND MAGGIE BEFORE MARRIAGE WAS KORONKOWSKI. THE STORY GOES
THAT JOSEPH CAME TO U.S. FROM POLAND(WHICH WAS UNDER RUSSIAN CONTROL) ABOUT
1905 TO 1915 OR SO AND THAT HIS SISTERS WERENT VERY NICE TO HIM. HE HAD TO
SLEEP IN A STABLE AND EVEN MAKE HIS OWN SOAP AND WASH HIS CLOTHES IN THE
DELAWARE RIVER. I THINK JOSEPH HAD A SISTER NAMED JADWIGA WHO HAD A DAUGHTER
NAMED GENEVIEVE(AUNT JENNY). JADWIGA AND JENNY DIDNT GET ALONG VERY WELL AND
JENNY LIVED WITH ROSE JOSEPH GIZINSKI FOR SOME TIME AROUND 1930'S UNTIL SHE
MARRIED A MAN NAMED CARROLL MENTZELL AND THEY MOVED TO NEW KENSINGTON, PA. JUST
OUTSIDE PITTSBURGH. WE VISITED THEM SEVERAL TIMES IN FACT I HAVE A SCAR ON MY
WRIST WHERE THERE DOG BIT ME WHEN I WAS 5 YRS OLD. JENNY ALSO HAD A BROTHER
NAMED LEON/SWOPE JASINSKI COUSIN TO MY DAD AND YOUR GRANDFATHER JERRY GIZINSKI.
BY THE WAY JASINSKI WAS JADWIGA'S MARRIED NAME AND ALSO JENNY LEON JASINSKI.
I THINK THEY ALSO HAD A BROTHER OR HE MAY HAVE BEEN A SON OF ONE OF JOSEPH
GIZINSKI'S OTHER SISTERS. HIS NAME WAS CHARLES. I ALSO REMEMBER GRANNY ROSE
GIZINSKI BEING A VERY STUBBORN PERSON(GUESS THAT'S WHERE I GET IT FROM) AND SHE
COULD HOLD A GRUDGE FOR A LIFETIME WHICH SHE DID IN THE CASE OF JOSEPH
GIZINSKI'S SISTERS. BY THE WAY, YES GRANNY ROSE GIZINSKI DID LIVE AT 807 S. 2ND
ST WHEN SHE PASSED AWAY. THE HOUSE WAS OWNED BY YOUR GRANDMOTHER GIZINSKI'S
FAMILY,
VITAS/SPIKE.

What do you think? We must be talking about the same people- especially since we both have the same address. Actually I think that he did have at least one fact wrong- My granny Rose's maiden (unmarried) name was actually Nowak (Novak), not Koronkowski; my aunt said she thinks that Koronkowski was actually the maiden name of Rose's mother.

As for other Gizinskis, There is one man, a journalist in Poznan, Poland with whom I have corresponded in the past. His family name is Gizinski but we have not been able to establish a relation between our families. If you are interested in contacting him then I could give you his email address. I also have a book which lists the mailing addresses of 115 Gizinski individuals in the US, Germany, Australia, Great Britain, and Austria. If you'd like to see it, send me your mailing address and I'll send you a photocopy of those pages. In the future you can email me directly at:

jarapearl@aol.com.

I look forward to hearing from you soon. Bye! Jara :-)

Hi Jara,

It looks very interesting, but I am a little confused. Address to which I referred in my forst letter I got from my aunt Eugienia/Genia Gizinski, she lieved in Warsaw and died in 1983 at age 90. For very long time she stayed with other sister Sophia/Zofia and her son Bogdan. Zofia died in early 70s. The name Mentzel is absolutely familar to me and I am sure that it was mentioned many times when I was young. They kept correspondence in the end of 60s with my very crazy older sister - Anna, even sending them gifts. The story about sisters could be true. As far as I know they lieved in central Poland, ca 100 km north-east from Warsaw. Gizinski family was connected to Rogalski family, but haw I do not now now. Great-grand father Gizinski was in the States too. Genia?Eugenia spent same years in Russia in St.Petersburg, she worked for very rich family. They became from nobile, we have our heraldy, Polish family with gentry title, but were probably poor, because everything was overtaken by Russian. That happend because of history. In 1771 Poland was divided first time between Russia (East), Prussien(North-West) and Austo-Hungarien Monarchy (Galicia) from the south, it was two more in 1793 and 1795. They lieved in Russia's part. Genia told me story about St.Petersburg, she never merried, and was also very, very stubborn. In Warsaw lieved two other sister - Sophia/Zofia, she was merried twice, I voto Kowalski, and had son Tadeusz/Taddeus/Ted - he was killed during the Second War, or she always called him "missed or taken by Russian" and second husband's name was Pomaski. From that marriage was a second son - Bogdan, he died in 1985. Second sister's name was Konstancja/Kostusia/Constancy - she was merried to Ziembicki. They had two children: Cezary, who was a doctor and was killed in September 1939, when German Nazis invaded Poland, and daughter Maria-Irene, she had P.hd. in math, was very bright woman, speak excellent four languages. She never married and died in 1988 at age of 86. The best family contacts I had with her. Do you know who was Kazimiera/Casimira?. Now about Jadwiga, there are some different links - Jadwiga Gizinski was my maternal granmother, she never left Poland and died at age 26 having just my mother - Augustyna-Maria (Gucia) Zbikowski, born in 1922. She merried to Lucjan Zbikowski. My mother was an only chid. Lucjan remarried, but I do not know that family so well. He died in 1946. I was born in the end of 50s.
Jara, it looks that we are connected by Joseph Gizinski, who was a brother of Eugenia, Kostusia, Sophia, and Jadwiga. All of them were very stubborn and pay more attention to the Rogalski than Gizinski's roots. It would be very nice to know you better. Please write me at: sbajger@attcanada.net. Ella

Surnames: Gesinski/Gizinski/Gesinsky
Joe,
Any chance there is a variable spelling for Gizenski? My maiden name is Gesinski, I am the daughter of Michael Joseph Gesinski. His Father is Albert Gesinski who had brothers named Joseph, Anthony and John that I know of, there could be others and there could be sisters.

Joseph Gesinski b. 1860 married Catherine Unknown and had a son Walter b. 1888 who married Elizabeth Strock b. 1890, they had a son named Bernard b. 1910 who had a son named Richard b. 1933.

Anthony Gesinski b 1868 married Agnes Osinski b. 1869, Children were: Walter, Bridget (married John Novak, Frances (married Alex Lewandowski, Alex (married Mollie Bogden, Michael (married Mary Turek).

My Grandfather, Albert came from Poland with his wife Josephine Nawrocka in 1897. They settled in Mt. Pleasant, PA and later moved to Hamtramck, Detroit, MI. They had 10 children: Catherine, Cecilia, Joseph (died at 3 yrs old) Sophia, Michael, Martin, Mary Ann, Frank, Stella and Thomas. Any chance any these names are in your tree?
Any information you could share would be appreciated.
