Gizewski - any relatives?
I am looking for any relatives of Joseph Gizewski born in Poland 7-5-1896. We are second family, his first wife died of cancer and had sons. His parents were Michael and Rosalia Gizewski. Joseph had two brothers, Michael Gizewski and the other I don't know. He married Cecilia Gross and the had 9 children that lived and 2 who died. We came to the US by ship that landed in Boston. Were sponsored by farm family, and after working off passage, moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Hello, my name is Aliaxey Gizeuski (it is belarusian transcription of what in Poland is written like "Gizewski"), I am 19 years old. I was surfing the web and accidently saw your link. It has interested me because we have a lot of relatives in Poland, especially in Belsk and Belsk - Padliaski plus our cirname is quite rare, but for this very moment can't tell anything more definitive. I should talk to my father and ancle to find out more.

Re: Gizewski - any relatives?
It's nice to make contact with another Gizewski. I have many questions to ask and I hope you and your family have some of the answers. Do you know when your grandparents came to the USA? Do you know what part of Poland they came from?
My father Joseph (Jozef) Gizewski was born in Podmichael, Kalusz, Ostgalizien, Poland in 1896; his parents were Michael Gizewski (Giszewski) and Rosalia (Rozalia) Sobek.
I always thought that we were the only Gizewskis in the US, but after working on genealogy for three years I know better. There are Gizewskis in Utah, Texas, certain areas in Canada, and even in New York, among others.
Ask your older relatives about your ancestral village. Learn as much as you can, because it is exciting. I hope to hear from you again.

Re: Gizewski - any relatives? (/*Guess we' re*/)
Hello Aliaxey,
I was hoping to hear from you after our first contact and was wondering if you managed to learn anything since then? I have had an unbelievably busy year, and appoligize for not making further contact with you.
Where do you live? Are you in Belarus, or Poland?
I have been told that we are part White Russian or Belarusian since I was a child, but this is the first time there may be proof of it. You said that you have a lot or relatives in Poland, do you have any contact with them? Would it be possible for me to make contact with them? I would love to hear from them, if they were willing to do that. Does your family have any pictures of them? One thing that I do not have is pictures of my relatives in Europe.
I hope that I hear from you again. I know by your age, that you may not be as excited about this as I would at my age, which is 55. I hope we do make contact again, but if not, I thank you for the information that you have given me.

Dear Aliaxey
I hope you remember contacting me in 2002. I know that your last name is spelled Gizheuski and you are from Belarusian. I tried to contact you but was never successful. I know that our family is part Belarusian and I am very interested to know if we are connected. I do not know how we are Belarusian, only that we are a combination of that area and anestry. I would love to make contact again, to see what information if any, you may have discovered over the years. I hope to hear from you. Theresa

Re: Gizewski - any relatives?
If you have an uncle Jon and an aunt Lori, I knew your grandfather and great-grandmother many years ago in Chicago. At that time, your grandfather lived in Orland Park and your great-grandmother in Chicago. Jon and Lori also had an older brother Greg.
