Thank you very much. This particular Census was a missing link for me to establish the family tie (darn the phonetic spellings and handwriting recognition software).

If you need anything (Edith's line in particular), just reach out.

Try as I might, I couldn't find this family 1940. When having difficulty with census, use 1st name only/birthdate/location.
You state Geraldine b "abt 1923", so wasn't sure if you had her info. Her death cert should confirm parentage.
Geraldine GIVEN b 6-14-1923; d 3-20-1998 Jackson Co NC; bur Bumgarner Cem; m 11-10-1945 Joseph Henry WARD, Sylva, Jackson Co NC.
Since Stella d 4-24-1946 Sylva [altho lived Boggs WV], somewhat confirmed there is a relationship to Geraldine. She and Chas had probably gone to Sylva to visit when Stella became ill with a pulmonary embolism.
Charles sure lived to a ripe old age. I guess you know Alidean Gatha GIVEN died under her maiden name.
More folks need to complain to Ancestry abt lack of notification. It's also very annoying for them to move queries. It's especially difficult for me, being a volunteer. It's not easy for this old brain to remember everyone I've assisted, then to find it's been moved.
