I have found no connection to the New Brunswick, Canada Given's. I have done an extensive research and have recorded over 250 Given names of my family and none have been to or from New Brunswick. The closest to the New Brunswick would be from Bristol, Maine and there are a few Given families that I can't account for. There is a chance. Thank you for you inquiry. junevig@localnet.com

I am writing a book about Francis Waldron Giveen born in london 1904 and the son of Henry Martley Giveen and Ellen Waldron Stanier - are these the same family as the Maine Giveens'. If so where can you get the book?
Thanks,
Mark

I have no record or indication of the Giveen families connected to your Giveen name. David Giveen arrivied in Maine in 1719 from Ireland and the name eventially was shortened to Given, although there is still a family with the original name of Giveen that derived from David Giveen.
Any history of the Giveen name before 1719 in Ireland can not be found with any accuracy. Thanks for your inquiry.
Jim Given

I recently learned of my ancestral heritage connection to that of David Giveen of Brunswick. as it turns out, I was raised and continue to live in Topsham, Maine. My Great-Great Grandmother was Annie Given who married Seldon Williams. She is a direct decendent of David Giveen via Robert, John, William and William. I recentlu located the grave of John Given in Topsham and plan on searching for David's grave this spring. I am interested in the book mentioned on this site. PLease advise how to obtain same.
