To S.P. Gitchell. I have connected my Gitchell line, through census reports, to David Gitchell in Niles, Mi. Per 1870 census, he was 54 yrs. old, which would give his birth date as 1816 or 17. N.Y. is given as a birth place. Wife was Elizabeth -----, age 52 in 1870 born in Wutemburg, Germany. Do you have any more info on David?

Hello:

I am certain that your David is the same as the David who was the brother of my great great great grandfather Francis F. Gitchell. He would have been the son of Jesse Gitchell. Jesse we do not know his parentage for certain but it may be Ezra Gitchell son of Robert of Brookfield,MA, though that is speculation at this time. I would be glad to correspond with you on the subject. Feel free to email at my address above.

I am related to David Gitchel, married to Elizabeth Bennett--my mother was Elizabeth Gitchel daughter of Lewis Calvin Gitchel-his father was Calvin Gitchel, his father was David Gitchel. Am trying to get sibblings of David and any other generations past David.
my e-mail address is varholav@hotmail.com

This David, son of Jesse, was he born 1816 (NY) and his death 1887 in Berrien Co., MI? If so, would like very much to hear from you. Allie G. Simpson at rocksaltandnails@aol.com

It's been three yrs since you posted that David Gitchell in Niles, MI was the son of Jesse in Painted Post. I think Jesse died in 1830. Do you know anything about David's brother, Hiram? Do know David's mother's name? Any help with this line would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know much of anything on David's line, sorry. I have a Cyrus Gitchell b.1808 in N.Y. that I can't connect to anyone. Thought he might be related to the Painted Post line but can't find any evidence. My Cyrus lived in Wyoming Co. which isn't too far from Painted Post.

Surnames: Gitchell
Ezra Gitchell was located in stoddard county Missouri during the civil war. He was a member of the stoddard county rangers, a local calvary unit-Confederate. He had owned a lot# 9 of the ringers auction area. His name was also in the first issue of stars and stripes paper due to the fact he was wanted for being a local confederate. Ezra was my great grandfather.
