RE: Your 14 Feb 2002 posting on Gisborne: I have an Elizabeth Castell Gisborne Married to my 8th ggrandfather, Edward Bull. Information is from an Abstract of Edward Bull's will as written on 2 April 1679 in Donnington, Gloucester England. "I give the house wherein I now live with lands and belonging,to my kinsman Anthony Gisborne of Loughborough Co. Gloucester, yoeman, for term of years upon trust for my wife Elizabeth to have rents and profits thereof or s'd term, and after to --- John Bull my eldest son to take said rents, etc for remainder of said term." It continues on to "Sole Executor, my Kinsman, Anthony Gisborne. Overseers my brother Thomas Castell and Kinsman John Gisborne." The will was "proved at Stow - on - Wold on 25 May, 1682, by Executor. We think, but are not sure, that Elizabeth was born around 1630. Married in 1651 or 1652 and died after Edward in Donnington Co, Gloucester England. We think Edward died around 1682. After those dates, I have no further information on the Gisborne family in England. If, in your research, you find a connection back to Elizabeth, I sure would appreciate any information. Liz Benson

William Alfred son of William Gisborne and Harriett Marshall who had a lot of kids including a Henry. We have family 'stories' about Knights and Ladies and Russian Royalty. Probably because of Robin Hood????

Hi,
I don't know if Mrs. Elizabeth Bull's last name was Castell or Gisborne (probably not Gisborne since Edward Bull refers to two Gisbornes as his kinsmen), but 'my brother Thomas Castell' could refer to Edward's sister's husband and not to the brother of Elizabeth. Interestingly, Anthony Gisborne, Yeoman of Longborough, Gloucestershire, left a will dated July 2, 1691. The parish registers of Longborough are also replete with Gisbornes in the seventeenth century.
