Hi Laura, My name is Laura Girardi too! And guess what--my ancestors also lived near Benevento in Italy. My deceased grandparents, Genero and Maria, were from Cervinara, which is near Benevento. A few years ago I met some distant relatives who live in Canada. One guy, who I believe is my fourth cousin or something, looks just like my grandfather! I am 32 and live in New York. I grew up in Brooklyn. That's my parents live. I now live in Queens. I write for Time For Kids magazine. It's a current events magazine for kids your age!! Care to write back?
Ciao, Laura

Re: We have the same name!
My great grandfather Luigi Girardi was born in Volpago del Montello on March 25, 1885. He immigrated to the US then Vancouver, BC, Canada and then back to Torino, Italy in 1920. My great grandmother was Luigi Maria Furlanetto born July 14, 1891. We may be related. If you would like to correspond, please email me at tinpet@telus.netTina

Re: We have the same name!
Hello, Delphine:
Thank you for your e-mail. It is very likely that we are related. Do you know other information about your great grandfather's family. Did he have brothers or sisters. Do you live in France? Is your mother French? I look forward to hearing from you.
Ciao, from Canada Tina

Re: We have the same name!
I meant to mention that my Nonno and his family immigrated back to Treviso and not Torino as my original message had stated. I do belive we are related.

Re: We have the same name!
You mention France. The 10ft tall tombstone of my gr-gr-grandmother Louise "Gordon" Dube says she was born Dec 18, 1853 in Paris, France and died Aug 13, 1904 in Polk Co, Tx. Her daughter, My gr-grandmother Antoinette Gordon RICE had in her things a picture of an infant. On the back of that picture it said: Joseph, Your cousin, my uncle's child.....boy Bostwick No 98 Sixth Ave Bet 8th and 9th St S, New York Alexandre Auguste, Gerardi ne a Wood Haven -- le 30 Aoul, 1885, age de 7 mois I have located an Alexander August Girardi in New York census and military records that seems to match. Looking for family that is living and can help with the answers. We are fairly certain that GORDON is not her real maiden name. That it was changed to be more american. Census records state that she was born in either Paris, France, Louisana, or Missouri. We are looking for this uncle, father to Alexandre A. Gerardi's family line and an answer to Antoinette's father's name. Family history as several options for Gordon: "Antoinette Gordino, born in Paris, France, could not speak English.", Also Gordeau, Geredawn, Guidrardeau among others, pronounced "zzzhherridon". With the picture showing Girardi, I am thinking we finally have a match. At least we have another side of this family. 1880 Antoinette was in Galveston, Texas with her mother and stepfather: Louise GORDON DUBE, Joseph Peter DUBE: Sisters: Louise Ernestina GORDON (m George RUHLAND Anotinette L GORDON (m Frank Patrick RICE) Marie Clara GORDON (m W E DUNKUM ) Thank you for any help.
