My husband's father, Sam (Salvatore) was born in New Kensington, PA in 1917. His grandparents were Joe (Guiseppe) and Grace (Grazia) Greco Girardi from Italy. They came through Ellis Island (Joe -1905 and Grazia and Rosa - 1st born) in 1907. The attended Mt. St. Peter's church in Pennsylvania, where I was able to get some records.

If this is the same family, please email me back and tell me who you are related to. I have names of their children and some immigration and census info. Since my husband's
(Steve) father was one of the youngest of about 10 or 11 kids, and he was out of the country for most of his younger years, he does not know any of his Girardi cousins.

Thanks.

Hello, My mother was Mary (Girardi) Miskech, she was the last one to pass away, about 4 years ago. As a matter of fact I think that Steven would send her a Christmas card every year. I am the oldest of my mom's children. What would you like to know? I would be happy to answer any questions (if I know the answer) :-)
Take Care,
Mary Lynn

Hi Mary,
Yes , my husband, Steve and I did send your mother a Christmas card every year. Because Steve grew up mostly overseas, he did not have much interaction with his Girardi cousins and does not know them. It would be great if you had a list with all of you mom's siblings and kids's names and birth dates, if possible. Also looking for any old family photos and or family history on the Girardi kids and the Italian parents and grandparents. I did find your grandparents in the Ellis Island records with some cousins names who were their sponsors in the very early part of 1900's. Girardi was changed to Gerardi on the ship manifest. Do you have any information on your grandparent / great grandmother's (Ansilio) life before and after they came from Italy that you can share? I know that your grandmother Grace (Grazia) Greco Girardi had 2 brothers (last name Ansilio) come over in early 1900's. You can find Steve on Facebook...Steven J. Girardi. We are both musicians www.girardigirardi.com. You can reach us at sgirardi@earthlink.net. We are in Redondo Beach, CA. Thanks for contacting me and hope to hear from your soon.

Not sure if this is just co-incidence my Great Grandmother Maria Andino Girardi had a sister named Luisa Andino. She married a Guiseppe Grecco. He was born in 1882 and she in 1881. I just found this info in the last week. They had 8 children. Ausgusto, Anthony, Anna, Maria, Bridgeta, James, Jennie and Rafaell. Does this help?
Dianne Girardo McClure(my grandfathers name was changed at Ellis Island, but his brothers kept Girardi)

Hi Dianne,
I don't think these families are related...Grazia Greco married Guiseppe Girardi in Italy and had one daughter, Rosina, born in Italy. The Americanized names are Grace and Joe Girardi. Her widowed mother's name was Filomena Ancilio and the name she traveled under when she came to Ellis Island abt 1911. Even though she was married, ships manifests show her traveling under Grazia Greco abt 1910. They had about 9 more children in US, including my FIL in 1917. I don't have any info on the Girardi's that stayed in Italy. Ellis Island transcribed the last name as Girardo on the ship's manifest in abt 1905. As far as family notes, it should be Girardi. They settled in New Kensington, PA. Thanks for the info.

Dianne - I think going back, way back, that all Girardis are related somehow. We also believe that the Greco name might refer to Greek heritage. Good luck with your research. Sheila
