Elaine,
I read your message and pass along the following info. I am not certain if it is the same family. My great grandfather was Oliver Girard from Canada. One of his brothers was J.Peter (Pete) Girard. He was born in Sherbrooke, Canada 1858. He moved to Anaconda, Montana USA around 1881. He married, but I don't know her name and when they married. His wife died some time in 1929. I don't have details. They had 3 children:
1.Allen died 1912
2 Irene,married Earl Jugler.They had 5 children no details
3.Montana, (called Monty). Monty did marry but don't know name of wife or whether they had children. I know that Monty and his wife wen't to California around 1942 and believe that he died there.
Please let me know if you think that this is the family you are seeking.
My email is e.b.mcdonald@ att.net.

Hello Joyce:

Olivier (French spelling) did get married a second time to Agnes ouimet (daughter of Achille and Josephte Bouchard on 30 Jun 1926 st Rock Island, Quebec.

He was the son of Caliste Girard and Lumina Houle, Married on 1 Apr 1872, Stanstead, Quebec.

The additional ancestry up to Pierre Girard and Suzanne Lavoie (de La Voye) can be found in BMS2000 for which I am providing instructions hereunder.

If unsuccessfull, contact me at : jjmmatteau@sympatico.ca

BMS2000 basic instructions.

BMS2000 is a database of baptisms, marriages and deaths («S« stands for «sepulture» or «burials») records for the province of Quebec, a little from Ontario. The data were taken from parish or counties repertories. English and French versions of instructions are available. More marriages than B and D because B- and D repertories were produced for no more than 10 % of the Quebec parishes and few or none from the Montreal area. Given that the data are taken from repertories, one has to be aware that if the repertory was produced in 1980 and for which there has not been any update, the marriages for the post-1980 period are not available in BMS2000. To make up for it, we in Quebec use the marriage and death database of the Quebec Statistics Bureau or Statistics covering the period of 1926 to 1996. Now avail. on line. Register if you want to make research in Quebec. 25 free queries. Thereafter, you may deposit some funds. about 10 cents per query. No charge if you do not get the full details of the record. I suggest that you search with surnames of the couple only (no given names). If the surname of a partner has numerous variations, use the surname of the other partner and one or two given names (bride and groom). Rather easy to use. To search for a marriage: select: SPOUSES (in the upper right corner section) and type in only the surnames of the partners. Click on the applicable line to see marriage data. If you want the name of the married male children of a couple, from the parents’ marriage data, click on CLOSE (bottom right of the screen), select: GROOM's parents. A line with names will appear for each son. Click on each line one at a time to get details . To get the names of the married female children of a couple, go back to the line with the parents’ names (step 1), select: Bride's parents (because when the daughters of a couple get married, they are brides) .Again, click on every line to reveal the name of the daughters and their marriage data. This may sound complicated but it is not after a few attempts. Contact me if you need more info. I have no financial interest in BMS2000.

Hello Joyce,
I came across some more details on Olivier to add to Jean-Marie's data.

*Olivier married Edith Harrington (daughter of Ben W. Harrington & Louise Lapointe-dit-Toussigneault) at Sacré-Coeur, Stanstead, Stanstead, Québec in 1914-August 23rd.
*When he married Agnès in 1926, he was a widower. The church in Rock Island is Notre-Dame-du-Merci.
*Olivier's brother Napoléon married Isabella M. Cornie (daughter of John-Alexander Cornie & Isabella Main of Nova Scotia)in 1914, on April 19th at Sacré-Coeur.

*Olivier's parents were Calixte Girard (son of Antoine & Josephte Sophie Denomcourt) and Lumina Houle(daughter of Athanase Girard & Eléonore Desfosses).
They married in 1872 on April first at Sacré-Coeur.

Calixte had two older brothers:
Antoine jr. who married Marie Seney or Cerie (dau. of Alexis and Cécile Adam)in 1855 on Sept 14 at Sacré-Coeur.
François who married Julienne Lapointe-dit-Toussigneault (dau. of François & Emélie Frémot.) in 1861 on February 3rd at Sacré-Coeur.

**A note about Olivier' mother: Her family name comes in many variations, so you will have to determine which is the correct one. So far I have seen it written as:
de-Tonnacourt,Finnacour,de-Finnacourt and Lenomcourt.
As for her first names - it's Josèphte in the Parish Records, but Sophie in the Drouin Repertory. So keep both in mind when you research her.

Stanstead is south of Sherbrooke and fairly close to it.
Hope this info helps!
