I'm looking for any help here

Henry Gipson b. abt 1837 in Pennsylvania
m. Sarah Melville

his parents were also born in Pennsylvania

Henry & Sarah's children:
Daniel E. Gipson (1861- ) m. Mary
Robert Gipson (1863- )
Mary Gipson (1866- )
William G. Gipson (1868- )
Samuel Gipson (1870- ) m. Laura
David Milton Gipson (1875-1947) m. Luella Neil
Rose Alice Gipson (1876- )
Harry Gipson (1878- )
John Gipson (1881- )

Almost decendants I can find (in Pennsylvania) are from David M. (m ggrandfather) the rest of the family must have gone somewhere. When David M. left Westmoreland Co & moved to Pittsburgh, there were no Gipsons left in Westmoreland.

If you live somewhere other than PA and think your folks came from Pennsylvania, study this list really hard and see if anything rings a bell.

Here's some more info on Henry Gipson:
He married Sarah E. Melville (daughter of Daniel Melville and Rosanna Keltz) on 5 Jun 1860 in Youngstown, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania.

He enlisted (as a corporal) in Co.B of the 142nd PA Volunteers in the Civil War. He got shot in the knee at Fredericksburg. He got out of the Army, but re-enlisted after Gettysburg and served the remainder of the war in Co.K of the 11th PA Vol.Infantry.

On 29 Oct 1881, while working as a breakman on the PRR, he stepped off the train onto his right leg (the one he was shot in, in the war) his leg colapsed, he fell, the train which was still moving slowly ran over his leg, he died.

After his death the GAR post in Derry Station (now Derry) changed it's name to the Henry Gipson Post.

It's possible that he started using the "P" spelling of Gipson when he enlisted in the Army. His father (also called Henry) and siblings appear to spell their name "GIBSON".

Henry (Gibson) Gipson was my great great grandfather. My great grandfather was Harry Gipson who married Stella Pringle. Their son, Alexander Melville Gipson was my grandfather. I am searching for any information I can find on this side of my family. I would particularly like to know more about the accident with the PRR which killed Henry Gipson. Anything you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Linda

Henry is my great great great grandfather, I am a descendent of his son Daniel. What I know of the accident is he stepped down from a platform onto the leg the was shot at Fredericksburg and I have been lead to believe he died on location but that might not be true. They have also named the post in Derry the Henry Gipson post.
