AINSWORTH, Iowa -- Ruth Maxine Gipple, 85, Ainsworth, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, at Mercy Hospice, Johnston.
The Rev. Cathy Whitlatch will officiate the services. Casket bearers are Mike Hall, Kevin Hall, Rick Sywassink, Terry Sywassink, Jeff Sywassink and Richard Orr. Honorary casket bearers are Harold Hall, Chuck Yetter, Herbert Sywassink and Ed Brazina. Burial will be at Columbus City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice of Johnston or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Mrs. Gipple was born May 5, 1919, in West Grove, the daughter of John William and Ethel Hardman Sprouse. She married William Edward Gipple Dec. 24, 1937, in Davenport.
A long-time resident of Ainsworth, she was a member of the Methodist Church and a past member of the Ainsworth Order of the Eastern Star.
She enjoyed her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, coffee with friends and winters in Arizona.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Gipple and wife Joanne of Altoona and Jerry Gipple and wife Carol of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, John and Don Sprouse; and two sisters, Jo Williams and Madeline Yetter Loga.

NICHOLS, Iowa - Thomas J. Gipple, 91, of Nichols, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007, at the Colonial Manor in Columbus Junction.
Funeral Service will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007 at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, Columbus Junction, Iowa. The Rev. Betsey Sue Neipert will officiate. Casketbearers will be Steve Gipple, Marty Gipple, Gary McCormick, Denny Abbot, Loren Allen and Roy Van Auken. Honorary casketbearers will be Paul Thompson, John Allen, Virgil Chapman, Ray Gipple, Charles Buser, Dean Gipple, Max Gipple, Junior Gipple and Max Allen. Burial will be in the Conesville Cemetery. Following the internment, a time of food and fellowship will be at the Conesville United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be directed to Colonial Manor in Columbus Junction.
Mr. Gipple was born Nov. 3, 1915, in Springrun, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Margaret Allen Gipple. He married Catharine McCormick on February 23, 1939. She preceded him in death on September 28, 1992.
He lived the first five years of his life in Springrun and later moved to the Conesville area. He farmed all his adult life north of Conesville and took pride in raising many hogs.
He served on the board of directors of Muscatine Mutual Insurance for many years and on the board of directors of the Iowa City Co-op.
He and his wife traveled extensively and spent many winters in Maui. He enjoyed playing bridge and skiing on a lake by Oakville.
He will be dearly missed by many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

MORNING SUN, Iowa - Junior Ronald Gipple, 85, of rural Morning Sun, died Saturday evening, August 1, 2009, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2009, at the Spring Run United Methodist Church Friends. Reverend Nancy Bender will officiate services. Burial will follow at the Fulton Cairo Cemetery, rural Morning Sun. A lunch and fellowship will follow at the church.
Visitation will be after noon on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello, with Masonic Rites at 6 p.m. followed by the family meeting friends until 8 p.m. A memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the Spring Run United Methodist Church.
Junior was born on May 10, 1924, in rural Columbus Junction to Frank and Franciana Hamilton Gipple. He married Evelyn L. Tindall on March 19, 1949 at Cairo, Iowa.
He graduated from Wyman High School in 1942 as the salutatorian of his class. He was a farmer and had also been an electrician.
He was an active member of more than 50 years of the Spring Run United Methodist Church, rural Columbus Junction, having served in many positions. He was a member of the Good Faith Masonic Lodge #235 of Winfield and was a Trustee for Marshall Township. He was also a member of the Louisa County Pork Producers, had been a 4-H Leader, and had been involved with the Civil Air Patrol.
He received a conservation award in 1986 from the Izaak Walton League and in 2004 received the Wildlife Habitat Owner of the Year for his conservation efforts. He was an avid sportsman loving nature and wildlife and especially enjoyed his pond. He also enjoyed woodworking.
His surviving family includes his wife, Evelyn Gipple; a son, James Gipple and wife, Stephanie, of Wapello; three daughters, Marilyn Steele of Mt. Pleasant, Connie Furlong of Waterloo, and Janice Webb and husband, Doug, of Wapello; 10 grandchildren, Megan, Kara and Dillon Gipple, Tony and Toby Steele, Andrea and Jessica Furlong, and Tiffany, Abby, and Brock Webb; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ray Gipple of Florissant, Missouri, and Dean Gipple of Columbus Junction.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Max and a granddaughter, Tina.
