I answered your email before I read this, Brian is my maternal cousin that I mentioned to you yesterday, I believe derek is a friend of his who has been helping him as they are memebers of different ancestry sites.

Brian had the same problem over William Gipp and his whereabouts but came to the same conclusion as you.

Its strange, about 15 yrs ago my brother and his family moved from London to Dunmow which is 5-10 miles from Stortford, the family returns to its roots........ haha

Derek gave me the email address of Brian. I have written - no reply as yet but it is only recently that I wrote.

I will open my tree for you - it is private. Regarding the Gipps, I could only get back as far as William Gipp born about 1802. I have done much work on all the Gipp cousins, etc.. William Gipp was erroneously supposed to come from Farnham, Surrey, whereas I realise that he came from Farnham Essex. I have put a comment on his profile.

This village is near Bishop's Stortford in Hertfordshire. His wife Martha came from Bishop's Stortford so it all fell into place. I have been taking her tree back further on her side, but as there are several people of the same name here and there it has become difficult.

I will give you my email address when I invite you to my tree.

Peter Gipp was indeed my Grandfather and his youngest son keith (known as Ken) was my father who died Nov 2012.
Since my fathers death a maternal cousin has been investigating the family tree for us.

If it is ok with you I will pass on your message to him, currently he is back to 1841.

My "great grand uncle" was Peter Gipp. My grt grandmother was one of his sisters . (Maryann Eliza Gipp) She was the oldest and he was the youngest as she was born in 1871, about 19 years prior to Peter's birth.
I was researching Peter Gipp recently and came upon your post.

I truly wish I could help you-I truely do. Unforrtunately I can make no connection. I have all birth dates for Heinrich's 10 children & 1825 does not figure in. I have a June 1824 & a January 1827 birth.

Heinrich's exact birth date & location is unknown. Info listed in Kraatz Church book seems to indicate he is the 2nd son of Johann Martin Gipp & Naria Christina Peters born abt 1800 possibly in Roeckwitz or Recknitz.

My uncle Loren Arthur Gipp said Isabella was married to Matthew Gipp. Matthew Gipp was the father of George Gipp, who was the football star at University of Notre Dame. Loren said Isabella's nickname was Belle.

I do know that LDS has the Roeckwitz records that can be ordered & viewed. It is a very small film with very cramped tiny german script writting. I tried finding Gipp on the film but it is just to hard. I am told that many churches do not have staff to do the look ups. Some refer you to a pro genealogist or a church member who charges approx. $35.00 an hour - sometimes that covers copy costs & postage-sometimes not.

I do not have the funds available to try thus I am stuck.

I would say it is a very good possibility that your Louise Gipp(e) could be related to my family. I cannot say with certainty since I have been unable to locate further info from Germany. I can say though, I do remember seeing the Voss surname mentioned in the records.

It is possible this link might be of some use to you.

I'm not a Gipp or Schrӧder, but I am the Church Secretary at Zion Summit. While going through the church records in search of my family (they are also early Zion members - Kopping and Evers), I happened across a page which included your family with some of mine. The July 26 (1891 I think) marriage of Rudolph Gipp - Arbeiter (German meaning worker) from Summit to Minnie Schrӧder of Summit IL. Witnesses were: Carl Gipp, Ludwig Schrӧder, Gustav Oelze, Emilie Oelze, Maria Schrӧder and Etta Schrӧder. Pastor Bohlen officiated. "Rudolph" is exactly how it is indicated.

I have been communicating with another Gipp relation and passed this on to her also. There seems to have been two Schrӧder families in Summit. It's a bit complicated.

Johann Martin Gipp born in the mid 1700's. Married Maria Christina Peters who died pre 1820 in Roeckwitz. Johann was a Statthalter in Roeckwitz, Mecklenburg, Schwerin before & in 1810-but retired by 1835.

Their 3rd born son was Heinrich Friedrich Gipp born betw 1796 & 1800, possibly in Roeckwitz.

Heinrich married Maria Christina Ruecket on Nov 10, 1810 in Gross Daberkow, Mecklenburg Strelitz. She died in Kraatz in 1834. He married 2nd to Maria Sophia "Friederike" Kuester in Feb 1835 in Kraatz, Brandenburg, Ueckermark, Prussia.

Would love to share & obtain info with/from other ancestors.

Prussian Towns known to be mentioned in my Heinrich Friedrich GIPP Family 1795 to 1866.

My G G Grandfather Heinrich Friedrich Gipp 1835 marriage from Kraatz church book says he is the 2nd son of the former Mayor of "Roeckwitz near Stavenhagen".

Marie Sophie "Friederike" Kuester from Carlslust, Mildenitz & Kraatz. (her 1835 marriage from Kraatz church book says she is the 3rd daughter of the former Mayor of Carslust Carl Ludwig Kuester.

Friederike Knaack from Hetzdorf

Friedrich Krueger from Fuerstenwerder.

Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Seidler Prenzlau, Brandenburg.

These 2 are unproven ancestors who married Gipp-both went to Indiana, USA:

Jacob Wiss born 1823 Schmalkalden, Kurhessen- prior to 1851 Immigration says he is from Woldegk

Pauline Stolzhin b 1822 Hamlen or Hameln, Windheim,Regierungsbezirk(District) Minden, Deutschland per USA church books.

These are towns that carry an unproven association with our Gipp line.

My Gipp family came from Brandenburg area of Prussia to Wisconsin from 1865 to 1869.

Most settled in Shawano County, Wisconsin. One went to Indiana in Sept 1865 directly from Germany.

We are related. Ludwig (Lewis) Gipp was married to Wilhelmina August Marotzke. His parents were John Von Rudolf Gipp & Minnie (Schroeder) Gipp. Minnie Schroeder was the sister of my Great Grandfather. When I posted the message, I was told by a great aunt that John Von Rudolf was called Lewis. This isn't true. famous football star of Notre Dame, George Gipp. She died in

Olivia, Within the last week (hard to believe), I just had a letter from your Johann Gipp translated from old German script. It was written in 1921 in Milwaukee and sent to my great-grandmother in Oak Harbor, Ohio. Her father, Carl Michael, was from Krumbeck (a very beautiful place I might add) and apparently was an uncle of Johann. I would love to trade emails or talk to you about all I know about Krumbeck. I cannot begin to thank you for your info. I had given up on finding any info on this line & had stopped working on it over a year ago.

I know a relative had mentioned seeing the Rueckert name listed on a marriage certificate for 2 of Heinrichs children but she had come to conclusion it was a misprint. I can now tell her it was not a misprint.

I see you do not mention where the 1st marriage occurred. Do you know where it occurred?

Were Wilhelmine, Johann Carl & Friedrich born in Kraatz?

If no-do you know WHERE they were born? Do you have a possible place or do you not know at all?

I know Heinrich had a son or 2 who remained in New York & never came to Wisconsin. Is believed 1 son was by Rueckert & another by Kuester.
Contact was made with 1 sons ancestors some 20 years ago but have lost touch since.

My mother's maiden name is Gipps. We are direct descendants of William Henry Gipps - son of Jesse Gipps - son of Aaron and Harriet Gipps. Would be happy to hear from anyone who thinks we might be related.

my gr-gr-gr- grandfather was named christian friedrich gipp(giebke) he was born in Molin germany,was married in knorrendorf,on 8/20/1813.He died in knorrendorf on 1/30/1851. His wife's name was anne dorothe heidenreish,who was born in Gross Helle and died on 2/20/1851. Her fathers name was Johann Heidenreich
