Hi my name is Jesse Ray Gipe and i live in Caldwell,ID. I was just really curious about the Gipe family. I was told that any one with the last name Gipe are related in some way cuz of the fact that its a family name or so. My aunt has a bunch of the history and facts and stuff about the Gipe family, but she dont know where she put them. So if anyone can give me some kinda of facts that would be great, i really want to know what Gipe means and what the family crest is.

Hold on now just because you share a last name does not mean your related many gipe names I've come across lately are not in my tree they may not be there because I've just never came across them but the more likely is they're not related or not related until very very far back. My Gipe family goes back to Johann Conrad Geib who came over from Germany in 1747 notice the different spelling often names were changed at the point of immigration because the person writing the names didn't understand what was being said and wrote what they thought they heard or later on the family changed the name themselves sometimes to seperate themselves from a growing family sometimes to be distinctive look at the Hershey empire Milton Hershey and I shared a lineague that began with Andrew Hirschi sometime in the early 1500's in Switzerland eventually after immigration to PA it was changed. Name changes happen so be careful with your research know who it is your researching and verify your work. Good luck
