Hi, not sure if there is a connection. Have to contact my mom. There may be a connection with the Wesley name. I am not sure where any of them were born. I know that my grandmother, Mae Annabelle lived in Lewistown, Pennsylvania. I will post again later. Thanks for responding.

In the 1880 Kansas Census Index My great-great Grandfarther was born 8-11-1843 Phillip "Miller" Gipe and married Catherine Jane Hauk of Ohio and they had ten children, John W, Fred R, George H, Ella L, Harrison, Bessy J, Susan L, Sarah M, Elfel M, and Margereth E all born in Kansas. I know Phillip had two other brothers that explored and opened up the Kansas territory. I'm trying to find Phillip's father and Mother and hope some of this info helps

Am a Gipe descendent, great-granddaughter of Phillip Miller Gipe and Emma Jane Haulk. Would you like to exchange information on their branch? Which branch are you on?

In your research on your GIPE family from Buchanan County and Spring Creek, Black Hawk Co, Iowa, have you come across a Samuel GIPE? While researching this Samuel, I often see your GIPEs listed in the same towns and wonder whether they connect.

This Samuel GIPE was born December 1863 in Buda, Bureau County, Illinois, the son of George GIPE and Elizabeth BARNCORD. George GIPE was born about 1809 in Pennsylvania, county unknown. My earliest record of George GIPE is a listing in the 1850 census in Franklin County, PA.

Samuel had numerous siblings, but as far as I know, only one other sibling settled in Iowa, a brother by the name of David who lived in Benton County, IA. I'm curious as to what might have brought Samuel to the same county as your GIPEs, whether there might be a relationship between the two families. If you'd happen to know anything more about this, I'd love to chat with you.
