My grandfather Vincenzo Gioia had two brothers that died in Kifertown (Scottdale) PA. They were Francesco (Francis) who was born in 1868 and Givanni born in 1872. I am wondering if anyone might know these names in their Gioia family tree. They had wives and probably children, but don't know if they stayed in the US or went back home to Gaiano, Fisciano, Italy. Also, I just learned he possibly had another brother (name unknown) who moved to somewhere in South America. Anything sound familiar?

Dear Adele,
Hello,
This is what I know so far. My grandfather Vincenzo Gioia was born in 1882 in Giaino, province of Salerno, Italy. He had two brothers, Francesco and Givanni. Francesco (Francis) was born in 1878 and he died when he was 50, in April 1918. Givanni was born in 1872 and he died when he was 42. They are both buried in Scottdale, PA. My grandfather left PA and moved to Manhattan. That's were my mother was born. In 1932, my grandfather moved up the Bronx. That's where he died in 1958. He is buried in St. Peter's Cemetery in Haverstraw, NY. My Uncle Tony (Vincenzo's son) thought that his father had a brother who went to South America. But that's all I know. My uncle doesn't know anything else, not even a name. I don't know my grandfather's father name and do not know if he ever moved to South America. My mother tells me my grandfather never mentioned any family, only to tell her that her uncles died when they were young. I have no way of knowing if Giuseppe Gioia is a relative. I guess my next step is to write to Italy to see if my grandfather has a birth certificate to get more family info. So, Adele, that's all I know. Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I haven't been on-line in a while, for one reason or another. If you find out anymore info, please let me know. Bye for now,
Diane
