Is Gioe the last or first name..I have Giuseppe Gioe that came into port of NY.
|
There was a Guissepi(?) but I was checking on Michael gioe in about 1875 to 1880. He started a stevador firm named Brary Gioe with an irish immigrant John J. Brady. I am looking for information about this.

My grandfather worked for his two brothers Michael and John Gioe at Brady and Gioe in New York. His name was Giuseppe Gioe.
|
My father, John Gioe worked with his brother, Joseph M. Gioe until Joseph died in the early fifties. John continued for a while and then sold the business to American Stevadors. I have been looking for any information in order to put together the geneology of our family. Should you have any information, please contact me at the e-mail address above.

Do you know Mary Cipriani Gioe's parent's names or date of birth? My mother-in-law had an aunt Mary Cipriani - her dad was Frank and there were 4 sisters and one other brother.

My Great Grandfather's name was Guiseppe Gioe and I understand that he had three sons, Guiseppe, John and Michael. Other than that I have no other information. I tried to get birth certificates without any luck. I think my grandfather was born in Palermo, but I'm not sure. He worked with his brothers at Brady and Gioe and died very young around age 35. My grandmother did not stay in touch with his brothers. Her name was Antonina. She lived in Brooklyn and had four children Carmella, Joseph, Josephine and Anthony. I know that one of my great uncles had a house on Long Island. I don't know if it was a summer home or not. My grandfather and his wife lived on Henry Street in Brooklyn before moving to Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn.
