I believe that Martha, the sister of my 3 x great grandfather John Richards, married someone by the name of Gimlet/Gimblet. John lived in Looe, Cornwall, and was a quaker.
Any connection to you?

I have no knowledge of any Gimbletts in the Kingston area, however my grandfather, Williams Henry Gimblett visited Canada from Wales in 1915 ish, however I do not know if he went to visit family. Some of our family now live in Oklahoma, and they have many more details. Does this tie up with anything that you know?

Robert,

I have quite a bit of information on the GIMBLETTs in Ontario and do have a Robert and Gordon in the same line. I am not sure however if they were in the Kingston area as I have them in the Arthur area of Wellington Co. The other thing that doesn't match your list is that Fred is not the parent of either of these individuals. If you would like to pursue this further, I would be happy to share more with you. I know that my family did have connections in the Kingston area, although I have had trouble tracing them. Maybe you are my missing link.

Robert,
So nice to hear from you. Although I don't have you or your father listed in my information I am fairly certain that we are related. Every GIMBLETT that I have found in Ontario appears to be descended from the original family of 8 siblings that immigrated around 1843. All the names that you mention are found within my information but not connected as you have them. You don't mention when you father was born. Do you have any information on who his parent's were? I'm sure we can make a connection, it's just going to take a little more digging.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

My paternal grandfather was William Henry Gimblett, and he married Catherine in Brynmawr in Gwent wales in 1912/1913. They had 2 children, Cledwyn (my Dad) and Douglas who died at birth, as did his mother. In 1915 ish, William and Catherine visited Canada, I still have the postcards they sent home to my father. I would be interested to know if they came to visit your family.

You are right, Kingston was where my dad was
born. I am trying to find a connection to the
UK to go further back to his parents who were
Fredric (not sure of the spelling) and Edith.
Please let me know if you get any closer than
I have, you say Whales, I was told London?
