Have you been in touch with Wayne Neilson? He has a message on this message board (from 2001) regarding Ephraim Gimbert.

Good luck!

Hi,
My Great grandfather was Phillip Gimbert, son of Ephraim and Sarah Gimbert. I have purchased a book written by a Gimbert descendent and it has quite a lot of information on Ephraim and Sarah.

Hi, my husbands grandfather was George Alfred Ernest Gimbert, brother of Robert William Gimbert.
The brothers names were, Albert, Harry, George, Robert, Jack. Ettie was the only sister.
Their mother was Ellen Grills and father Ephraim Gimbert son of Ephraim Gimbert and wife Sarah Young, both born in Sutton, Isle of Ely, England. They came to Australia in 1847 on the ship Castle of Eden. With two children, William and Sarah. All the brothers were born at either Gulgong or Murrurundi N.S.W.
Your grandfather went to France in the first war and never came home until the 1960's, and I think died in South Australia. I believe his wife went back to England but I would love to know were his family is as he is my husbands great uncle.
Roberts brothers Harry and Jack were also in France during the war.
love to hear from you again
